Credit Union Examiner

This is a non-merit posting for Iowa Department of Insurance and Financial Services.The Iowa Division of Credit Unions is seeking a candidate for an entry-level credit union examiner position. A Credit Union Examiner reviews the financial health, regulatory compliance, policies & procedures, management & records of Iowa’s credit unions. Examiners evaluate risk in specific areas, draft reports of examinations & present findings to credit union management and their Boards of Directors. Examiners may conduct and direct examinations of state-chartered credit unions both independently and/or jointly with federal agencies. When not in charge of the examination, credit union examiners work in teams with other examiners in reviewing a segment of the exam.The ideal candidate should be a team player in addition to being able to work independently. Overnight travel may be required when work is completed on-site at credit union offices. The anticipated starting salary will be determined based on education and experience.The position range is $70,824.00 - $143,499.20 plus benefits.The IDCU strives to be an employer of choice by supporting work-life balance, providing the training and development necessary to maintain high standards, and supporting diversity. The IDCU will facilitate employee training & continuing education.Responsibilities:• Plan and conduct examinations of credit union operations;• Evaluate the soundness of credit union policies, procedures, and practices;• Analyze financial statements, key ratios and operating trends;• Learn the laws and regulations of the industry and ensure credit union compliance;• Assess the degree of risk present from current operating practices;• Identify weaknesses and discuss corrective action with management;• Meet with Board of Directors and credit union personnel to discuss areas reviewed;• Complete written reports of operations to be provided to credit unions.Benefits:• Competitive salary• State of Iowa benefits package• Vacation and sick pay benefits• Ability to work partially from homeThis position requires up to 35% overnight travel within Iowa.
