The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Bureau of Parks and Lands, Lands Division, is recruiting to fill the position of Regional Manager in Farmington or Greenville.  

 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This position provides direct management and oversight to State-owned public land properties in the Public Lands Western Region. The position provides supervision to professional foresters, technicians, park rangers, and office support staff assigned to the region. The position sets priorities, approves and provides oversight to all regional timber harvesting, which is vital to the generation of revenue for the Public Lands Division; oversees all contracts and approves expenditures. The position coordinates the management of recreation and wildlife habitats on public land sites. The position provides recommendations to the Deputy Director and Director relating to policies/rules/regulations under the jurisdiction of the Division. Applicants must be able to manage and lead staff and project teams in a constructive and productive manner, demonstrating good communication skills. Applicants must, further, have the ability to set and meet budget and multiple project deadlines.

There will be limited remote work opportunities with this position that will follow DACF Telework Policy and are approved by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or related natural resource field and four (4) years field experience involving inspection and supervision of harvesting operations, surveying, cruising, timber marking, and general forest management planning. Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Special Licensing Requirements: Possession of a valid State of Maine Forester’s License.

  • Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts– Set aside money pre-tax to help pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses and/or daycare expenses.
