This position performs first-line supervisory work in the CRV Facility on the custody of offenders assigned to the food service department. • Oversee Offender worker for food prep, serving and clean up of the food service department. • Read/Comprehend/Calculate menus. • Observe and maintain sanitary food handling practices. • Understand food nutritional values. • Inventory of food, utensils, food service equipment. • Rotate stock. • Order and maintain inventory and janitorial supplies. • Communicate verbally and in writing. • Comprehend/abide by verbal and written instructions. • Input/comprehend computer data. This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on 7-19-24. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage. About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC): The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry. North Piedmont CRV is a Confinement in Response to Violation correctional facility for females, housing 136 offenders, with 56 employees. Probation/parole violators are housed for up to a 90-day sentence. The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following: • Documented knowledge of large-scale food production and food service activities and/or supervision of offender workers Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, as a Correctional Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
