Data Entry Clerk

This position will have contact with applicants and applicant families of the program. This employee collects all authorized information without duplication and is responsible for entering data into the information management system using a desktop computer. Th is position will have direct contact with visitors entering the Academy and provides or directs to information regarding the pro gram... The employee is responsible for contacting government agencies and judical systems as needed for candidate record s; This position is also responsible for producing reports and updating records as directed by the office manager while following all guidelines gover ning confidentiality of personal data when working with records and reports. This position is responsible for answering inquiries on the Tarheel ChalleNGe website and drafting correspondence to applicants and applicant guardians as needed and directed by the supervisor using Micosoft Office software. This employee will receive incoming telephone calls and ro ute them as needed and assist with other duties as assigned by the supervisor. A successful candidate must possess the ability to communicate clearly and c oncisely in oral and written form to the public and employees and be able to establish effective working relationships with staff and the public. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with Benefits. The selected candidate may be scheduled to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staffing coverage. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC02. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result. Also included are these Boards and Commissions: ABC Commission, Governor’s Crime Commission, Private Protective Services Commission, and Boxing & Combat Sports Commission. DPS is comprised of approximately 6,000 permanent positions and nearly 13,000 NC National Guard temporary positions. About The NC National Guard: The NCNG is a military force comprised of citizen Soldiers and Airmen sworn to support and defend the Constitutions of the United States and the State of North Carolina. We trace our heritage back to the 1663 Carolina Charter granting authority to levy, muster, and train men. About The Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy: The Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy is a quasi-military style residential program for at risk youth 16-18 years of age, and is sponsored by the North Carolina National Guard. The mission of the Academy is to redirect the efforts of young adults who have had trouble succeeding in the normal high school environment and give them the skills to become productive citizens in their communities.The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following: • Experience in data collection and storage, printing and organizing information. • Documented experience with two or more Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, outlook) • Documented experience in an office setting. • Experience in communicating through written and various forms of media to individuals or groups. Other necessary requirements: Required to complete the following training provided by TCA: Foundation Course; Post Resident Course. CPR (recertify every two years) Per 5 CFR 731, upon appointment, applicant must be able to obtain a favorable suitability and fitness determination from a Tier 1 background investigation conducted by the Office of Personnel Management. Failure to obtain a favorable determination may result in termination of employment.
