Front StreetNew Bern, NC 18562Primary Purpose of Position:TheGraphic Designeris a part of the Public Affairs team and is responsible for creating ads, invitations, signage, brochures, reports, fliers, and other branded publications in print and digital format. The Artist Illustrator also works collaboratively with other branches at Tryon Palace to create materials for exhibits, tours, symposiums, and lectures. Creativity, efficiency and attention to detail are essential.Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToDesigning of all marketing, promotional and informational material for Tryon Palace and the North Carolina History Center, to include print and digital advertisements, brochures, posters, publications, signage, event maps, web page images, invitations, in-house exhibits, and other.Working in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and with Microsoft Office skills to creatively collaborate on designs and produce print and digital collateral.Providing electronic media support with photo editing for print and digital needs.Using efficient time management skills for planning and making monthly advertising deadlines and other project deadlines, while working on multiple projects at a time.Proofing work to make sure it is grammatically correct, with accurate formatting of content.Working collaboratively with the Public Affairs team on planning and executing special projects, fundraising events and other Tryon Palace events and programming.Working with the Collections team on creating signage and creative for in-house exhibits.Position/Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 30 poundsMust be able to work occasional night or weekends during special eventsClickTo Learn About Employee Perks And Benefits.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesTo receive credit for your work history and credentials, you must provide the information on the application form. This work includes developing and delivering promotional and informational materials through a variety of information media - print, digital, radio, broadcast and social media. The Public Affairs team also includes Development and Special Events. Together, they work collaboratively to engage the public with Tryon Palace and build support for its mission.
