• *OPEN TO CURRENT UDOT EMPLOYEES ONLY** The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), is looking for a dependable, organized, leader to fill the Station Supervisor (Roadway Operations Manager I) position in the Region Three, Manila Maintenance Station... Principal Duties The Station Supervisor leads a crew and works with their team to tackle the day to day maintenance duties in their assigned area. Duties include: • Planning, organizing, and directing overall workplace functions. • Supervising station employees including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, coaching, mentoring, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions. • Maintaining and repairing hard and soft surface roadway including seal coating, crack sealing, lane leveling, filling ruts, grading and rebuilding shoulders, etc. • Maintaining roadways including vegetation, weed control, drainage, sign and structure maintenance, litter pick-up, repairing fences and guardrails, yard and driveway cleaning, etc. • Operating and maintaining station equipment and machinery. • Ensuring all specialized equipment is utilized, serviced, stored, and maintained in a proper and timely manner. • Encouraging and providing opportunities for all to participate in the TEP program and to provide adequate opportunity in all areas of Construction and Maintenance. • Working with local agencies and private concerns involved in highway use and encroachment. • Coordinating with other UDOT stations and divisions concerning UDOT projects. • Developing budgets including fund allocation, revenue collection, budget projection, expenditures, etc. • Organizing and supervising highway HMA paving projects. • Completing other duties as assigned. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will: • Have completed the Transportation Education Program (TEP). • Have a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. • Be able to respond to the Lehi Maintenance Station in a 30 minute response time. • Have excellent leadership qualities including coaching, mentoring and leading others. • Lead by example. • Be organized. • Be accountable and take safety seriously. • Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing and verbally. • Have knowledge of UDOT computer software, including CSL, ATOM, and Google Suite programs. • Be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays, when required. • Be willing to travel, including overnight travel. Preferences Preference may be given to those who have experience as a Lead or Station Supervisor in a maintenance station. Underfill Option This position may be filled as a Transportation Technician II for those who are not yet qualified as a Transportation Technician III or Station Supervisor. To underfill the position, you must currently be a Transportation Technician II and complete all TEP to become a Transportation Technician III within 18 months of being selected for the position. This includes completing a specialty track. If you underfill the position, a signed agreement will be required that states all requirements for a Transportation Technician III, and at least one specialty track, will be completed within 18 months of the hire date. If the requirements are not completed within 18 months of the hire date, the increase will be forfeited and the employee will be returned to a Transportation Technician II position. Supplemental Information Here is some additional information you should be aware of: • Department of Human Resource Management rules and Department of Transportation policies regarding promotions and transfers apply to current state employees. • This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing of employees after hire. • Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director/Group Leader. • Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time. • Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or chemicals, etc. • Department of Human Resource Management rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current state employees.
