This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Human Resource Consultant to join our dynamic team of human resource professionals at the Office of the Secretary (OOS). We're looking to hire a human resource professional with excellent influential communication skills and the ability to... present complicated issues with a solution-based positive approach to diverse audiences. The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) employs over 17,500 professionals who engage daily with the state’s most vulnerable people in need. Your work here will help Transform Lives. This role will primarily be conducted remotely with occasional travel for in-office work. Some of what you’ll do • Provide experience, professional, senior-level consultation, and technological guidance/advice to personnel and managers • Research, interpret, and clarify rules, regulations, and policies • Provide creative, responsive, high-quality technical advice and consultation • Respond timely to resolve complex or difficult issues • Research options and resolve employee complaints • Develop workflows and tools to ensure consistency, efficiency, accuracy and services to our customers • Assist management, employees and HR Representatives with answers to questions • Conduct audits of work performed by HR Representatives • Consult on classification issues with managers and supervisors • Assist appointing authority with processing layoffs Who Should Apply Professionals with the following are encouraged to apply: • Two years of professional human resource experience; a Bachelor’s degree with focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field; OR • Equivalent education/experience. Preferred Skills/Abilities: • Have a working knowledge of Federal and State laws related to Human Resources. • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in order to provide guidance to administrators, managers, supervisors and employees. • Ability to meet deadlines while working with constant interruptions. • Ability to critically analyze problems/data, and develop viable solutions. • Ability to effectively deliver human resource training. • Ability to be a collaborative member of a diverse team.
