Based out of Madison, work will be taking place at the Wisconsin Society Headquarters building(816 State St.) and the History Maker Space (1 S. Pinckney St.), the Wisconsin History Center's temporary spacelocated on Madison's Capitol Square. In addition, this position will support outreach efforts as public programmingtravels to various communities within Wisconsin. This position reports to the Public Programs Manager.Duties:Program Development & Implementation Support - (75%)• Identifies and develops engaging activities for new family and partner programs, as well as adult audiences• Contributes to ongoing public programs, including supporting a regular lecture series and participating inseasonal walking tours• Organizes materials in preparation for implementing a range of youth, family and adult programming• Collaborates with programming staff, and colleagues in education, curatorial and special events, toimplement public programmingResearch & Creation of Program Resources - (20%)• Conducts research into relevant historical topics, selecting and drafting historical content for use in publicprograms and events• Creates physical and digital facilitation materials and learning resources for use in programming• Develops evaluation tools that gauge the value and/or success of public programsGeneral Historical Society Work - (5%)• Works with staff across the society to support activities of other departments and institution-wide eventsSalary InformationPay is $16.50 per hour with an 80 cent weekend differential. This classification is in schedule and class 02-11.Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire.Job DetailsA criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 10 hours per week.Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.WHS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.Qualifications• Excellent writing and communication skills, able to use them as part of daily work as well with a range of program and event audiences• Comfortable engaging with and presenting in front of people of all ages and from a range of educational, social, and cultural backgrounds• Experience with Microsoft Office applications as well as interest in learning about presentation systems (i.e. projector and sound systems)• Is flexible and resourceful, able to adjust accordingly to any situation• Responsive and comfortable asking questions as part of the learning process• Can multitask and consistently meets deadlines• Motivated to connect public audiences with the layered and multifaceted nature of Wisconsin's history• Some weekend and evening work required.
