ABOUT THE ROLE

About Stepful:

Stepful partners with healthcare institutions to build talent pipelines and career pathways. We are reimagining allied healthcare training with a digital-first environment for student cohorts that prepare job-ready graduates five times faster, at a fraction of the cost. Stepful graduates, primarily from underrepresented communities, go on to work at leading healthcare institutions. Stepful is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital and AlleyCorp and recently closed a round led by Oak HC/FT.

The role:

As our first Head of People, you will be a strategic leader responsible for designing and implementing a people strategy that supports our fast growth while maintaining our company culture. This role spans all areas of the employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, development, engagement, and retention. You will work closely with the executive team to ensure we’re fostering an inclusive, high-performing, and values-driven organization.

What you'll do:

  • People strategy: Develop and execute a people strategy aligned with business goals, fostering a scalable and inclusive culture.

  • Talent Acquisition: Oversee recruiting efforts to attract top-tier talent; develop strategies for sourcing, hiring, and onboarding.

  • Employee Engagement: Drive initiatives to enhance employee experience, satisfaction, and retention through programs that reflect our values.

  • Learning & Development: Build frameworks for career development, leadership training, and skills enhancement.

  • Performance Management: Implement performance management processes to ensure alignment, feedback, and growth for every team member.

  • Leadership Collaboration: Partner with leadership to address organizational challenges and design scalable structures as the company grows.

This job is for you if you have:

  • 8+ years in People/HR roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth startup.

  • Deep knowledge of HR functions, including talent acquisition, performance management, L&D, and DEI.

  • Experience shaping big-picture strategy and rolling up your sleeves to execute.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, especially in ambiguous situations.

  • Passion for fostering a values-driven, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.

COMPENSATION

$160K - $180K / 0.06% - 0.08%
