Job Summary

Under general supervision, is responsible for performing work orders, receiving, storing, and issuing supplies and equipment parts. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies. Exercises no supervision.

230 S. Callaghan San Antonio, TX

Work Hours
Rotating Shifts: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

Essential Job Functions

  • Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items, requisitions, or invoices.
  • Fills orders or issues supplies from stock, including maintaining inventory and utilizing basic office equipment.
  • Prepares requisitions, orders, or other documentation required for purchasing or requisitioning new or additional stock items.
  • Compiles stock-control records, consumption data, consumption rates, and related factors to establish or recommend stock levels or replenishment needs.
  • Maintains orders and cleanliness in stockroom, moving, lifting/carrying supplies or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds when issuing or receiving.
  • Follows up on the status of parts ordered to ensure timely receipt.
  • Maintains parts information on computer files.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
  • One (1) year of experience in stockroom work.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience as a parts/equipment stock clerk
  • Experience working with auto parts
  • Inventory Management experience
  • Material Management experience

  • Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
  • Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio in this position must receive satisfactory results from pre-employment drug testing and background checks. If required for the position, a physical, motor vehicle record evaluation, and additional background checks may be conducted.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of parts and supplies.
  • Knowledge of record keeping and inventory procedures, practices, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
  • Skill in utilizing a calculator, a computer and associated software programs.
  • Skill in utilizing basic office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to prepare and keep stock records.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
  • Working conditions are both inside and outside with exposure to temperature extremes, a dirty environment, and high-level noises.
