At Stop & Shop, we're here to feed all of life's moments, and we've made a promise to our customers to help them make the small wins possible every day.The Buyer I role will be responsible for all cost negotiation and overall inventory management of assigned categories.• Direct accountability for cost of goods to ensure overall financial goals are being met, manage service level objectives to ensure timely delivery of products to the stores, and maximize inventory turns to optimize working capital.• Maintain a strong working relationship with category management teams, the vendor community, supply chain, and sourcing.• Meet established procurement goals, such as service levels, merchandise force outs, buyer adjust accounts, buyer/DC loss, turns, and inventory dollars.• Have a keen awareness and knowledge base of global and local market conditions. Provide regular updates to supply chain, quality assurance, and category management teams.• Determine and execute promotional and opportunity buys to support brand specific promotional plans and drive incremental sales and margin improvements.• Must be highly motivated, independent performer, and able to set priorities in concert with overall company goals and strategy.Requirements:• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.• Strong verbal and written communication skills.• Highly motivated with a proactive approach.• Capable of working effectively in a deadline-driven environment.• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.• Must be efficient with MS Office applicationsThe starting salary for this position is $83,840 and will be commensurate with background, experience, and internal equity.Stop & Shop is an equal opportunity employer.
