Strategic Events Manager, 1st Party Events

The Strategic Events Manager will be a critical member of the field marketing team, with a special focus on internally-produced and first-party strategic events. In this role, you will work closely with the Strategic Events team, the extended Field Marketing team, as well as the rest of the Marketing organization to plan and execute a wide range of multi-pronged campaigns, with a significant focus on events, to generate leads and drive adoption of MongoDB. You will own the strategy across different channels to drive demand for first party events and build assets including event promotion plans, microsites, registration web pages, and promotion emails. This person will assist with all aspects of MongoDB strategic events including our biggest educational conferences and global roadshows. They will also play a key support role in third party events, Sales Kickoff, and other field marketing activations and programs as needed.

This role can be based out of our Austin, or New York City office or remotely in the North America region.


Position Expectations

  • Work with Global Strategic Events Lead on all aspects of field marketing initiatives
  • Develop and drive promotion/demand strategy across all channels for first party events, including email, blog, social, digital across different audiences
  • Manage end-to-end event coordination and production, including: materials creation, event messaging/marketing, signage, giveaways, contract negotiation, vendor relations, site selection, accommodations, participant registration, agenda scheduling, staffing, on-site production, F&B, and post-event reporting and follow up
  • Own program reporting, deliver thoughtful wrap-up reports and ROI analysis, and generate learnings for improvement and optimization
  • Work with the Field Marketing team to drive sales enablement around the promotion of these events
  • Work with the Integrated Marketing team, Design team, and other cross-functional groups to ensure strategic events are supported with well-rounded, multi-pronged campaigns
  • Assist with the flow of leads from events into marketing automation systems to drive conversions and adoption of MongoDB's products
  • Effectively manage budgets and evaluate ROI of all events

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • 5+ years event, event marketing, or field marketing experience
  • Knowledgeable (3+ years' experience) with virtual event platforms and/or event registration systems
  • Experienced in supporting a variety of marketing and comms deliverables, including email marketing, digital, social, and integrated campaigns from brief development to delivery
  • Experience running hybrid and virtual events
  • Proven ability to take direction and input to develop engaging events that achieve organizational goals
  • Demonstrates a metrics-driven approach to success and can show Return on Investment (ROI) by tracking results from Company and co-funded marketing activity against the budget
  • Skilled at creating compelling promotional email content
  • Familiarity with Salesforce as well as marketing automation tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and/or Google Suite
  • Strong project management and analytical skills
  • Proactive, self-starter, "get it done" attitude
  • Comfort working independently and part of a large, distributed, global team
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting aggressive deadlines
  • Attention to detail and highly organized
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience copywriting or crafting compelling, audience-centric content
  • Proven track record designing and executing successful events and demand generation campaigns
  • Proven track record of working cross-functionally and collaboratively within a team and organization
  • Flexible and solution-oriented with excellent time management skills
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% (domestically & globally)
  • Bachelor's degree
