The Student Union, Inc. is 501(c)(3) nonprofit auxiliary that maintains three major facilities at San José State University in downtown San José, California. These facilities include the Diaz Compean Student Union Building, the Provident Credit Union Event Center, and the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center. The Student Union, Inc. functions as part of the Student Affairs Division on campus, and is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a student majority, faculty, and administrators.

Job Summary
Under direct supervision of theOutdoor Adventures & Climbing Wall Supervisor, the Outdoor Rental Attendant is responsible for administering the operations of the Outdoor Rental Center in Spartan Recreation. Some of these responsibilities include educating renters on proper equipment usage, inspecting returned equipment for cleanliness and damages, cleaning, repairing and maintaining equipment, and assisting in the equipment logistics for Outdoor Adventures wilderness outings.

This position is non-exempt from the provisions of Section 1 of the California Industrial Welfare Commission Orders.
Hourly Wage: $17.75 per hour

Additional Information:
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Student Union at SJSU will issue a contingent offer of employment to the selected candidate, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current SU, Inc. employee who was offered the position on a contingent basis.
The standard background check includes: criminal check, employment and education verification. Depending on the position, a motor vehicle and/or credit check may be required. All background checks are conducted through the Student Union third-party vendor, Accurate Background. Some positions may also require fingerprinting. SJSU will pay all costs associated with this procedure.
