Student Worker – Machine Shop (Fall 2023)

Bell Piney Flats is actively searching for an exceptional candidate to join its Aeronautical Accessories Machine Shop in Fall 2023 through their high school's Work Based Learning program. This individual will earn a paycheck while earning school credit. The position will work approximately 10-15 hours per week (Monday – Thursday) on a set schedule.
Machine Shop Job Responsibilities:
Cut, grind, and form parts
Deburr polishes/finishing parts
Operate CNC equipment such as press break, manual mills, and manual lathes
Interpret blueprints, Bell drawings, manufacturing drawings and work orders
Use measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers to perform basic tasks
Maintain a tolerance of +/- of .01 with supervision
Demonstrate safe work habits and always wear proper PPE
Machine Shop Position requirements:
Must meet all WBL program standards and requirements
Interest in a Machining career path
Integrity and reliability
Willingness to learn, self-motivate, and develop real skills that can be applied to future opportunities
Detail oriented
Good communication skills
Ability to use basic hand tools
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to multi-task and learn quickly
Commitment to working approximately 10-15 hours per week on a set schedule. Schedule may be during the school day or after school hours
Physical Requirements:
Ability to wear hearing and eye protection equipment
Ability to kneel, squat, stand, sit, and carry throughout the day
Ability to work on feet up to duration of shift
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis
Ability to work in environment with exposure to various chemicals, dust and odors, and various machine heat cycles
