Position: Student Worker

Department: Retail Operations

Reports to: Store Manager

Location: Campus Store

General Job Description:

The function of a student worker is to serve customers in every aspect, maintain store stock and appearance, and complete sales using a point-of-sales system to sustain cash and inventory levels. The sales associate must display a commitment to supporting the college and Slingshot mission and demonstrate the colleges and Slingshot’s values.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Serving store customers in all capacities, including point-of-sale operations with handling cash and credit card payments, telephone calls, and online sale fulfillment and shipping
• Maintaining store appearance including cleaning, store displays and signage as well as tracking and reporting general maintenance needs
• Sustain store operations including opening and closing the store and inventory control
• General clerical responsibilities such as filing paperwork
• Other duties as assigned

Skills / Qualifications:

• A state issued driver’s license (preferred)
• Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and general customers
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., carry, shelve, bend and stretch in the performance of bookstore operations as well as stand for long periods of time
• Detail oriented with ability to self-start and work independently
• Schedule flexibility during peak seasons
