Purchasing Coordinator (Part-Time; Japanese/English Bilingual)

Sumitomo Electric U.S.A. Holdings, Inc. (SEUHO), a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a part-time Japanese/English bilingual Purchasing Coordinator for our Procurement and Logistics Department in our Torrance, CA office. This is a part-time (15 to 20 hours per week), non-exempt position through May 2026, with the possibility of an extension. This position could be a hybrid position.
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in purchasing activities, including obtaining quotes, placing orders, conducting delivery checks, and preparing items for shipping.
  • Track courier shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
  • Perform general clerical duties, such as data entry and managing expense payment inputs.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Supervisor.  
  • Performs other special assignments and projects as needed.
 
Qualifications
  • B.A./B.S. or equivalent relevant experience. 
  • Must have fluency in communication skills in English and Japanese (business level in speaking and writing). 
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and interact effectively. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle tasks independently and proactively. 
  • Self-starter with excellent anticipation skills; problem solving; follow up
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, organizational expertise, discretion, tact, and excellent grammar/proofreading skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural work environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all company leadership and direction.  
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
The hourly rate for this position is between $20 to $30.  
Compensation may vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, competencies and location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives.
