Summary of Role:


SunPower is seeking a Sr. US Payroll Manager who can process payroll for 4,000 employees. The Sr. US Payroll manager reports to the Corporate Controller of Global Finance Operations and will be responsible for managing the activities of the payroll function and partnering with our benefits and technology teams. The incumbent will develop and maintain policies and procedures for the payroll process and timekeeping. Ensure that payroll is processed timely for the Company, including labor distribution records, vacation and sick leave accrual, overtime and withholding status are complete, accurate and timely. Ensure that the Company meets all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding, deductions and employer contributions. Recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the payroll function and will collaborate extensively with HR Benefits, HRIT.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day to day function of the US payroll management system, including any off-cycle payrolls.
  • Manages the team and provide training, if necessary.
  • Participate in third-party and internal audits as needed.
  • Process and maintain requests for garnishments.
  • Ensure that laws and regulations are adhered to and followed.
  • Timely and accurate payment and administration of payroll duties.
  • Periodic reporting and metrics monitoring of the payroll function.
  • Manage relationship with ADP and ensure that all payroll withholding are filed and remitted.
  • Maintain payroll documentation and tax related documents.
  • Recommend, design and implement and improve internal controls to the payroll process.
  • Effectively communicate new standards/regulations that impact payroll and stays current with applicable payroll laws.
  • Respond to employee questions as it relates to payroll.
  • Analyze payroll data for anything unusual and action as needed.
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to escalate issues and problems timely.
  • Perform audits of the payroll system data to ensure completeness and accuracy of pay information and deductions.
  • Completes W-2s and any quarterly or annual tax filings.
  • Register business for withholding taxes, if needed.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8 or more years of related experience.
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 or more years of people management experience.
  • Experience with ADP Payroll system.
  • Excel experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local tax and labor laws and reporting regulations.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree.
  • CPP designation.
  • Experience processing payroll for companies with over 4000+ employees with multiple US locations.


Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $154,284/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,426 /year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
