The Fulton Library at Utah Valley University is hiring a Circulation Services Supervisor. Join our team!

The library’s Circulation Services department is a major hub of the library’s services. We circulate the library’s regular book and media collections, extensive equipment collection, and the high use textbook Reserves collection. We maintain the employment of over 20 part-time and student library aides who provide helpful, knowledgeable front-line service. We help and direct knowledge-seeking patrons to the services and/or specialists they seek.

The Fulton Library provides user-centered services, various learning spaces, and essential resources in an environment in which any individual or group can be and feel welcomed, respected and supported. The Fulton Library works to create an inclusive and welcoming climate that embraces differences and offers respect in words and actions for all students, faculty, staff and community members.

Schedule set to facilitate closing procedures Mondays through Fridays year-round, with flexibility mirroring recurring library hours changes and needs of the department.


  • Fall/Spring schedule: Monday-Friday 3pm to midnight
  • Summer schedule: Monday-Friday noon-9pm

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Supervises library aides, training and coaching them on department protocols and tasks. Provides expert coaching and feedback. Promotes positive employee culture by setting clear expectations and modeling appropriate behavior, proactively supporting employee activity, and taking responsibility for employee morale. Communicates updated procedures and expectations verbally and in writing.
  • Maintains knowledge of department protocols and library and campus resources to provide frontline service to library patrons. Connect them to the information they seek, and circulate library materials to them.
  • Serves on the Billing Team which provides daily reconciliation of payment and tracks and maintains records of accounts, of fines and fees, and outstanding library material.
  • Secures the library building and ensures a safe environment for patrons and employees by maintaining awareness and enforcement of campus security procedures, especially during opening and closing shifts. Troubleshoots and communicates building operation and security issues.
  • Receives training on job-related topics and contributes ideas to continually update and improve the department’s ability to effectively supervise workers and manage other job requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling 4 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of UVU Library’s procedures, protocols and practices
  • Supervisory experience

  • Skills in supervising, including behavior modeling, relationship building, conflict resolution, team building, coaching and training.
