Job Description

Responsible for the operational planning, organizing, and executing of various Entertainment Events. This includes, but is not limited to, Halloween Horror Nights, Grinchmas, marketing events and promotional shoots.

Ensure that the Universal Studios Hollywood vision, mission & values, and Guest Service Philosophy & Standards are understood and supported across the organization.

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to a department culture that promotes a professional, collaborative, inspiring, fun and teamwork-driven work setting for all employees.
  • Supervise the daily operation of a specific events and/or area, including supporting staff by providing necessary direction, assigning projects and communicate expectations.
  • Maintain show quality across all entertainment products and communicate any concerns or feedback to the appropriate stakeholder(s), including the Event Manager and Show Quality Team.
  • Track and manage labor budgets by investigating and resolving any variances.
  • Provide direction, development, and support to Seasonal Supervisor team. Communicate feedback and address all performance issues, providing recognition and real time coaching.
  • Ensure that all compliance training is completed in accordance with annual deadlines.
  • A strong ability to adhere to production timelines with strong collaboration between partnering departments.
  • Demonstrate good judgment, excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work effectively while managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Create and oversee budgets, including estimating labor requirements.
  • Effective in nurturing cross- departmental relationships.
  • Demonstrates appropriate discretion with IP and proprietary information for all creative and internal communications.
  • Ability and willingness to exercise professional courtesy and discretion and maintain confidentiality as required.
  • Have current knowledge of union contracts and scheduling parameters for partnering departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES

  • Support the production process for each assigned event by facilitating the flow of information among departments.
  • Coordinate and oversee on-boarding, training and scheduling plan for new event personnel.
  • Arrange schedule and staffing for assigned events including training, rehearsals, etc.
  • Create cost estimates for assigned character appearances, providing revisions as requested.
  • Act as a mentor to the Seasonal Supervisor team, by providing consistent coaching and feedback.
  • Ensure positive interactions with all partners and clients to provide exceptional guest service.
  • Support the planning and execution of auditions and rehearsals by ensuring all milestones are met.
  • Serve as Supervisor on Duty for assigned events, which includes walking the park and communicating with TMs.
  • Track daily operating labor hours and address any variances or outstanding Workflows with TMs.
  • Investigate and approve/reject daily payroll-related exceptions and clocking revisions (OT, meal penalty, etc.).
  • Track and oversee weekly event schedule to ensure alignment with park hours and projections.
  • Track and validate employee discipline points by investigating and following up with appropriate partners.
  • Assist in conducting employee investigations and/or disciplinary actions, ensuring that they are conducted professionally, appropriately and timely – in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain employee coaching logs and report to Assistant Manager when further discipline is required.
  • Collaborate with all partners to facilitate the production phase and hand-off process. Focusing on solutions during periods of ambiguity.
  • Update Manager routinely on any challenges with Seasonal TMs and work proactively to find a solution.
  • Assist with investigating injuries and incidents as appropriate.
  • Attend meetings as assigned by Manager.

Manage Global Event/Venue Functionality:

  • Ensure that everyone on the Entertainment team has pertinent information by creating and distributing weekly event schedules/updates.
  • Work in conjunction with partnering departments to adhere to budget and labor parameters.
  • Assist with TSAT committee meetings, initiatives, and action plan implementation as directed by Manager.
  • Partner with all Entertainment Departments to ensure optimal operating procedures for all events.

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Qualifications

  • General Knowledge and Skills Required: Managers shall have the ability to read, interpret and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. The Manager shall be able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Manager will be able to effectively communicate, present information, and answer questions in one-on-one and group settings. Basic Microsoft Office Suite experience

Supervisors are expected to provide exceptional guest service to clients, partners and Team Members.

Communicate goals of the day so that Team Members understand expectations and how they can succeed. Provide regular, specific feedback that Team Members can use to develop their leadership and improve performance. Demonstrate a commitment to organizational initiatives with words and actions. Encourage Team Members to contribute by recognizing, reinforcing, and rewarding contributions. Encourage Team Members to be innovative and willing to take risks, tolerating well-intentioned mistakes.
