Richmond City Justice Center is looking for a Family Nurse PractitionerShifts: Tues-Fri 8a-430p.Corrections Experience is a plus.Primary Care: Mainly seeing inmates for sick callsWill be doing preventative care.Things to not about Corrections positions.Safer than working in a hospital – There are so many rules in place and corrections officers are present.• Employment is based on budget, not census.• Try before committing permanently. Potential staff positions. Some nurses like the state benefits and pension plans!• Good retention rates. Facilities like to extend contracts.• Opportunity for more overtime than any other setting• Only need to have 12 months in the past 36 months in any specialty• Corrections nurses get to use their entire clinical skill set – Intake, Assessments, and Clinical/Medical Infirmary Care. Nurses frequently say, “Working in Corrections reminds me why I went to nursing school. I get to use all my skills.”
