The Supply Chain Manager assumes a prominent role in the organization, responsible for designing and directing the supply chain strategy and operation for the specialty product lines in the AO business line. This position uses professional expertise and insight into logistics, supply chain and distribution management to support the business’s strong customer focus. The role must balance cost and service as well as our inventory (NWC) goals.
This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of bulk and packaged goods movement throughout the US and Canada, international exports, and toll production internationally.
This position will promote safety as our number one priority and maintain the principles of and responsibilities related to ISO/ Responsible Care.
Salary Range: 109,100 – 185,500 per year (salary to be determined by geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage a network of warehouses and tollers; direct external and corporate logistics providers. Foster effective business relationships between Evonik and service providers.

Develop systems to measure performance, act on non-conformances, and provide training to external service providers.

Lead the process of demand planning to predict business fluctuations and direct the internal process of finding effective solutions to manage them. Provide in depth analysis and notification of customer demand changes which impact inventories and replenishment. Plan and implement systems to ensure sufficient equipment and capacity availability at each distribution location.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, Responsible Care and all applicable ISO procedures in distribution operations. Monitor and measure distribution processes. Ensure compliance with Global Trade Guidelines and any other corporate compliance initiatives governing distribution of finished products.

Understand the requirements of import and export processes and implement control processes to ensure seamless service to international customers.

Contribute to profitability through cost management while maintaining premium service levels. Prepares and distributes Freight Cost Analysis and make recommendations to address cost trends.

Develop, implement, and direct alternative distribution plans in anticipation of service disruptions from external sources in order to maintain continued customer satisfaction during periods of disruption to standard processes.

Direct and manage the activities of the team, assuring compliance with business objectives of safety, reliability of supply and cost as well as living our corporate values.
REQUIREMENTS

A BS degree in Logistics/related field strongly preferred and/or equivalent experience with a strong background in transportation. Some chemical plant operations are desired; MBA or higher degree a plus.

This individual shall have 7-10 years of logistics, customer service and managerial experience. The individual should also have excellent interpersonal skills and experience with directing the implementation of systems, quality processes and the training of new employees.

A high degree of personal initiative and the ability to work without supervision is essential.

The position requires extensive experience in transportation fleet management, including fleet and carrier regulatory requirements, and rate and contract negotiation.

The position requires expertise in SAP and Microsoft Office applications.

This individual must have the ability to effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels in the organization, both locally and abroad. They must be willing to challenge existing business processes and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, about processes and changes to processes in the finished goods supply chain.

Incumbent will be required to be on-call to assist with safety issues as needs arise, and/or to assist with urgent customer order issues.

Willing and able to travel up to 25%.
