It’s encouraged to give and receive feedback to ensure two-way accountability with a focus on continual improvement both personally and professionally!What you will be doing in the role of a Sr. Database AdministratorKomen’s IT team is looking for a Sr. Database Administrator who is comfortable in both cloud native applications and integrations, including requirements gathering, architecture, infrastructure, schema and table modeling, development, full scale testing and maintenance. This role will both lead and collaborate on projects with other development and technical resources, product managers, project managers, business subject matter experts, and others to design, develop, deploy, enhance, maintain database assets and their interfaces. The candidate must have a strong attention to detail and serve as both a leader and team player fostering a constructive attitude towards delivering business solutions. The ideal candidate will be able to handle projects from conception to finished product and stay abreast of developments in database, cloud, reporting, and ancillary technologies. The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for adhering to the SDLC to update the current data related assets, as well as developing and implementing usability testing processes to ensure new database and related deliverables meet the company’s requirements.What you will bring to the table• Install, configure, troubleshoot, debug, patch, upgrade, and document database and related cloud native infrastructure, servers, platforms, software, and tools.• Architect, model, implement, and document database schemas, configurations, and ancillary assets.• Create and maintain database partitions, indexes, stored procedures, views, functions, triggers, and other database objects.• Monitor database performance, conduct ongoing performance tuning, and optimize queries to maximize efficiency.• Perform regular database backup and restores, index rebuilding, and routine administration and maintenance tasks.• Leverage monitoring, reporting, and alerting tools to proactively identify and resolve contention and deadlock issues, as well as provide database performance, usage, statistics gathering, and security compliance reporting.• Create and execute database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data reliability and minimize downtime.• Preserve data integrity.• Establish authentication and authorization procedures and processes.• Optimize databases and related assets to ensure critical organizational reliability and availability.• Develop ETL processes for effective and efficient bulk data transfer.• Develop and implement data security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect sensitive participant personal and health information.• Provide database capacity planning to accommodate future performance and storage requirements.• Provide leadership, guidance and direction for testing database assets to ensure quality, responsiveness, and efficiency.• Mentor, coach, and collaborate with partnering architects, developers, and administrators on the team.• Other duties as assigned.We know you have and will be able to• Experience in building high volume and velocity, highly-scalable, cloud native databases.• Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting database performance, contention, and scalability issues.• Experience supporting CRUD operations and other integrations, including REST APIs and microservices architectures.• Experience building data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines.• Experience with scripting and middle-tier / backend development languages such as PowerShell, C#, or Python.• Familiarity with requirements techniques such as user stories, use cases, and informal modeling.• 5+ years of experience of database administration inclusive of database tuning, troubleshooting, job scheduling, alerting, escalation, and backups and restores with Microsoft SQL Server (preferably) or equivalent database platform.• 5+ years of experience with T-SQL, stored procedures, query analysis / tuning, & data modeling, creating indexes, partitions, , stored procedures, views, and triggers.• 5+ years of ETL experience with MS SSIS (preferably), Informatica, Apache Airflow, Talend, or homegrown data pipelines.• 5+ years of reporting experience with MS SSRS / SSAS and PowerBI (preferably), Tableau, or Qlik.• 3+ years of experience in a cloud native environment such as MS Azure (preferably), AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.We would love if you also have• Experience in developing integrations, including APIs and stored procedures.• Experience with Salesforce, NoSQL databases, and Content Management Systems.• Candidate must have a strong attention to detail and must be a team player with a constructive attitude towards business problems.• Candidate should be able to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with both technical and non-technical parties.• The candidate must be a self-motivated leader who is results driven, and a technology enthusiast.• Candidate must be able to make decisions quickly and work under strict deadlines.• Experience working in a team-oriented fast paced, distributed and collaborative environment.• Excellent troubleshooting skills, self-motivated, results-driven and well organized.• Excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills.So, what's in it for you?Komen believes in the importance of taking care of our employees so that in turn they can be committed to supporting our critical mission to support those impacted by breast cancer and to help find cures. This is what Komen provides away from the computer:• Approximate salary $85,000 to $120,000/annually, exact compensation ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job level, internal equity and budget.
