Propeller is seeking a SVP of Sales and Marketing to lead our Growth team as we execute a plan to triple in size by 2025. 

Candidate Profile & Key Competencies

The ideal candidate is a senior and experienced sales executive who is passionate about leveraging new technologies and helping organizations to achieve scalable, predictable, and profitable revenue growth. This person will be a strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to identify and execute the critical initiatives necessary to achieve goals. This sales leader must be a hands-on “player/coach” who has a proven track record of building and mentoring a team and scaling a sales and marketing organization.

An ideal candidate will have experience building a local, regional, and national sales presence in a tech-enabled services environment. That experience may come from various industries, geography, or vertical markets but the candidate must be able to articulate a sophisticated, consultative approach to the sales and marketing of strategic services. The candidate must also show competencies and the management of the funnel from awareness to loyalty.

Finally, this candidate must have interest in and understanding of the venture-capital ecosystem, including the ability to identify industry trends, challenges and opportunities. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and manage an existing team of 5+ full-time sales and marketing professionals
  • As part of the Propeller’s executive team, collaborate on strategy, budgeting and execution and ensure that the Growth team is accountable, collaborative and communicative in the effort to achieve company goals
  • Drive forecasted sales objectives through proper account management, opening new doors, closing new deals, building the brand, and creating and executing campaigns to drive leads
  • Design strategic sales and marketing plans that target our Ideal Customer Profile, considering current and past sales activities and additional revenue-generating opportunities
  • Ensure that Propeller’s brand and Unique Value Proposition are clearly defined and emphasized in the marketplace and continuously refined as the business evolves
  • Construct, qualify and maintain a robust and dynamic pipeline, focusing on scalable accounts, optimizing deal conversion rates, and delivering margins/deal profitability
  • Engage directly with strategic accounts to support high quality customer experiences and close partnerships, while providing feedback to our product team on areas for improvement and new opportunities
  • Engage directly with strategic partners to understand and replicate critical factors driving lead generation 
  • Use both qualitative and quantitative research to ensure Propeller’s product offering and go-to-market strategy are innovative and effective
  • Evaluate and update pricing and packaging strategies to maximize client satisfaction while meeting margin goals
  • Collaborate closely with head of Client Engagement to ensure the buyer and customer journeys are streamlined
  • Collaborate closely with the head of Strategic Initiatives to create GTM strategies for new business lines 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in sales leadership
  • Strong drive to be the dominant player in the industry
  • Proven leadership qualities and a collaborative style 
  • Proven track record leading a sales and marketing organization through high-growth to achieve goals
  • Excellent team management skills, including the ability to recruit, manage and mentor direct reports in a way that maximizes individual performance while inspiring collaborative behavior and team loyalty
  • Experience in digital and brand marketing, including paid advertising, email, social media, and content marketing with the ability to analyize and maximize ROI on marketing programs
  • Professional services experience is essential; Financial and/or accounting services and tech-enabled services experience is highly-valued
  • Highly familiar with the latest digital tools & applications, particularly current and emerging cloud and mobile technologies and digital performance marketing solutions that would improve awareness and conversion, and bring efficiency to the sales process
  • Financially savvy, with keen attention to detail and a high level of accountability
  • Experience/interest in the venture-stage company ecosystem
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong presentation skills, in both large and small group
