Job Responsibilities: What you will do

Lead the day-to-day (24/7) operations of designated department personnel; responsible for supervision, coaching and development of designated department personnel. Evaluate and coordinate workflow/activities to achieve metric goals; manage and monitor call/work activity to ensure performance standards are being met. Ensure timely response to crashes, cargo issues and work injury events to keep costs at a minimum.

  • Provide supervision and leadership of claims intake related activities to achieve the best support and customer service for the Safety and Risk Management departments. Provide guidance (on call 24/7) to ensure timely decisions of best practice and optimal resolution. Responsible for scheduling, designating and organizing workload and assigned team members to maximize productivity while minimizing costs.
  • Establish and implement performance/service standards. Review and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensure assigned team members receive the tools necessary to meet or exceed the performance standards and objectives.
  • Responsible for hiring, training and administration of disciplinary/corrective action; identify training needs and necessary areas of improvement. Implement improvement plans to increase productivity, performance and achievement of department/company objectives. Develop and maintain performance reports and statistics; provide feedback to leadership as required.
  • Initiate claims investigation by assessing each situation independently and taking action accordingly, including but not limited to, making effective and appropriate economic decisions by gathering sufficient data, documenting clearly, making calls and asking questions when/where necessary. Act as fiduciary agent of the company authorizing various insurance, towing and salvage expenses within designated authority per occurrence.
  • Identify, locate and hire qualified vendors to respond to and follow through on risk management situations; represent Swift and its agents as the initial contact from various third party vendors and claimants exhibiting Best in Class customer service.
  • Act as liaison and maintain internal communications between designated department personnel and leadership representatives, as well as field investigators, attorneys and other assigned vendors in serious accidents, injuries, cargo losses and breakdowns to ensure timely and cost efficient responses.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.
  • Perform additional duties and participate/complete various projects as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications: What you need to bring

  • Three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory role or minimum three (3) years high level claims entry/handling experience required.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills.
  • Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be flexible.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills.
  • Must possess strong computer skills.


Pay Range: $38,125.00 - $54,375.00 Annual
