You look beneath the surface to uncover creative, measurable, and more importantly, impactful solutions.

In this role, you will review all pieces in the publications track (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, page proofs) developed by Cadent, ensuring all are accurate and professional from a grammatical, scientific, and style perspective. You will also prepare and submits abstracts and manuscripts to journals and congresses.

You will:

  • Perform all editorial reviews (ie, initial full-edit through release), including copy edits, W4Ws, fact/data checks, check changes, and does a final read at designated times in the publications job life cycle
  • Review for content, grammar, and spelling as well as for journal/congress style, Good Publication Practice (GPP3) and ICMJE guidelines and consistency within the publication and among related components
  • Prepare all materials for submission and submits manuscripts and abstracts to medical journals and congresses
  • Attend status and kickoff meetings for assigned accounts; participates in the development of timelines for publications
  • Establish solid working relationships with all internal teams
  • Accurately track time spent on each job and enters in time-tracking system on a daily basis
  • Assist in the management of workflow and status for assigned accounts as needed
  • Assist as a training resource for freelance or newer employees
  • Promote collaborative approach among team members by taking the initiative in establishing and maintaining the flow of communications

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in medical publications at an agency or medical publisher
  • Proficient in following detailed journal and congress style guides
  • Proficient in basic grammar and spelling rules
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (ie, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Skilled in editing digitally using software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro markup tools and track changes in Microsoft Word
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with internal team members
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to assume a mentoring role within the Editorial department

Desired Requirements:

  • 5-8 years’ experience in medical publications
  • Master’s degree in a related field and/or related certification

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $105,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
