Job Description:
Synopsys is seeking highly motivated and innovative individuals to join the Technology Intelligence Center at the Office of the CEO as a Senior Staff of strategic management. In this role, you will research the latest advances in emerging technology and develop business cases, foster partnerships with startups & universities, and drive pivotal initiatives that lay the foundation for Synopsys’ future.
Key Responsibilities:
• Emerging Technology Strategy: Lead the company's overall medium/long-term ambitions on emerging technology strategy, including the analysis of the industry landscape and trends, competitive dynamics; assessment of the company's technology assets; and exploration of potential investments in new technologies/businesses
• Opportunity Identification: Lead emerging technology-focused opportunities across businesses and functions as they emerge and collaborate closely with key technology experts within business units to help define overall technology strategy
• Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including academic researchers, industry experts, startups, and venture capitalists, to stay informed about emerging technologies and establish partnerships or collaborations when appropriate.
• Technology Monitoring: Continuously monitor the technological landscape, including academic research, industry developments, and startup ecosystems, to identify emerging trends and disruptive technologies relevant to Synopsys' business areas.
• Technology Evaluation: Evaluate the technical feasibility, scalability, and commercial viability of emerging technologies through technical assessments.
• Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market analysis to assess the potential impact of emerging technologies on Synopsys' products, services, and strategic initiatives.
• Intellectual Property (IP) Analysis: Conduct IP landscape analysis to identify relevant patents, copyrights, and trademarks in emerging technology domains and assess their potential impact on Synopsys' IP portfolio.
• Reporting and Presentation: Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and executive summaries to communicate key findings, insights, and recommendations to senior management and cross-functional teams.
• Innovation Advocacy: Champion a culture of innovation within Synopsys by sharing knowledge, best practices, and success stories related to emerging technologies and disruptive innovation.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field; advanced degree (e.g. MBA, Master's, Ph.D.) preferred.
• Must be passionate about technologies, especially deep tech such as semiconductor, computing, biotech, etc;
• Proven experience in technology scouting, technology assessment, technology advisory or technology transfer roles within the semiconductor industry or related technology fields, or experiences in a top management consulting firm focused on technology research or tech client engagements.
• Deep technical expertise in one or more areas such as semiconductor design, electronic design automation (EDA), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), cybersecurity, or cloud computing from prior work or academic experiences.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex technical and market data and draw actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Strong networking skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The Technology Intelligence Center Team at the Office of the CEO is based in our Sunnyvale (Bay Area, California) headquarters. Due to the nature of this role, 5 days per week of in-person presence is expected.
The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $151,000-$227,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses.
