The Graphic Designer will be tasked with maintaining the continuity and integrity of the Syracuse Athletics brand. The Graphic Designer will take the lead on various projects and campaigns that promote the University’s global brand and is engaged with close to one million combined followers on social media platforms, Cuse.com and paid marketing and advertising; the Graphic Designer will provide conceptual ideation, creative direction and constructive feedback, while creating and designing assets used by the department and institution. In this role, the Graphic Designer will be asked to develop creative workflows, manage a queue of requested work, and conceptualize individual work. This position reports directly to the Assistant Athletics Director – Creative Services.Education and Experience• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.• Bachelor’s degree preferred in field of communications, art or graphic design.Skills and Knowledge• Expertise in Adobe Lightroom, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.• At least two (2) years of graphic design experience with a focus on brand marketing and asset creation in college and/or professional sports.• Motion design experience a plus.• Self-starter who can generate creative ideas to further the Syracuse brand and reach.• Excellent communication skills.Responsibilities• Lead all idea generation, creation, and management of Syracuse University brand assets through graphic design specifically for sales, marketing, athletics development, licensing, in arena experience and social media platforms.• Work quickly under high pressure in an extremely fast paced environment, while taking direction from the Creative lead (Assistant Athletics Director, Creative Services), collaborating with the rest of the Creative Services team and multi-tasking projects.• Shape visual look and set graphic plan for department while sticking with established brand guidelines.• Work cohesively with existing creative, technical, and social media staffs through all brand categories.• Works independently to achieve brand awareness throughout multiple media channels and platforms.• Works with licensing to manage Athletics brand and create revenue projects.• Research and generate preliminary design, finalize, and update print collateral – including, but not limited to invitations, brochures, one-page flyers, posters, program books flyers, folders, program booklets and agendas, small/medium/large scale publications, development and fundraising materials, signage, wall art, advertisements, infographics, marketing materials, and videos.• Provide graphic design support within the Athletics department for creating print and digital collateral and signage that consistently exemplifies the University and Athletics global branding while meeting deadlines.• Conceptualize, direct, and create game day production graphics and motion graphics for Dome and arena video board and LED.• Manage relationships with internal partners and external and University vendors (SU Publications, printers, etc.)• Other duties as assigned.Physical RequirementsNot ApplicableTools/EquipmentNot ApplicableApplication InstructionsIn addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume. cover letter andportfolio website URL.About Syracuse UniversitySyracuse University is a private, international research university with distinctive academics, diversely unique offerings, and an undeniable spirit.
