Provides day-to-day technical, logistical, and administrative support for the Colorado College Film and Media Studies Program (FM) in the Cornerstone Arts Center, including maintenance and checkout of program gear; upkeep of program facilities; and instructional support. Conducts technical workshops and works closely with FM faculty, staff, and students in the use of filmmaking technology inside and outside the classroom.
Anticipated Salary Range: $50,960 to $65,691 per year
Responsibilities:
- Implement use of and maintain FMs film, video, and audio technology, including all camera, lights, and grip gear; audio recording gear and studio; studio classrooms; Foley and post-production studio; screening room; and other facilities.
- Design and conduct technical workshops instructing students and others in the proper use of FM technology/ software/ equipment/ facilities, as well as in the fundamentals of studio techniques; create demonstration videos as needed.
- Oversee the equipment check-out and check-in process to students, staff, and faculty; design, conduct, and communicate clear protocols for checkout and safe use of FM technology/equipment/facilities.
- Assist students with production and post-production in support of their coursework, including assistance with lighting, cinematography, green screen, sets, visual effects, picture and sound editing, color-correction, and other technical creative filmmaking processes.
- Support FM students, staff, and faculty in the Cornerstone Editing Labs; coordinate with ITS to keep lab software, hardware, and systems up to date.
- Facilitate projection, sound, and other technical aspects of select FM-sponsored events (including some evening events), such as public screenings, lectures, or discussions; coordinate with FM-sponsored local and regional film organizations on events, as needed; occasionally record and archive events.
- Coordinate with FM faculty and staff to plan for the purchase and implementation of new equipment for filmmaking classes and for the program as a whole; research and propose potential acquisitions and improvements.
- Supervise training of the paraprofessional and student workers, if any, in FM technical processes and systems.
- Coordinate with the FM paraprofessional on joint projects and tasks (such as creating FM promotional materials; FM media management and archiving; work on episodes of "In Short," an FM-produced show on Rocky Mountain PBS).
- Coordinate with other Colorado College programs/departments, including AV and ITS, as needed.
- Participate in professional development to remain up-to-date with evolving filmmaking tools and techniques.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or associates degree plus a minimum of 3 years of broad-based technical experience with film and video production and post-production gear, workflows, and systems; experience mentoring those new to filmmaking technology; positive, enthusiastic team-oriented work ethic, along with an ability to work independently; ability to communicate to constituencies with varying levels of experience and expertise; drivers license or ability to obtain one; ability to work occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in film and media or a related field; interest in continuously learning and implementing new technologies; desire for experimentation; experience in formal or informal educational settings; special expertise in VFX, set building/ production design, color correction, sound mixing, and/or 16mm filmmaking; willingness to expand relationships and seek out new ways to involve the campus and community in the CC Film and Media Studies Program.
