As the Technical Program Manager for the Infrastructure Engineering organization, you will drive value delivery for a set of technical programs, including next generation hardware and platform design, server lifecycle management, and platform optimizations. This individual will be an experienced cross-functional leader who champions continuous improvement and thrives in a fast-paced environment. They will apply technical literacy along with program management experience to navigate delivering on commitments.
In this role, you will partner with Product and Engineering leaders to drive the delivery of valuable technical programs to achieve significant DigitalOcean objectives. You will embody servant leadership to ensure efficient, effective value delivery. You will be a proactive collaborator at all times while driving consensus where needed and influencing decisions when teams are stuck.
Our Team: The Infrastructure Engineering group, supported by the Sr. Director of Infrastructure Engineering is made up of nearly sixty engineers located across the US, Canada, and Europe. In this role, you would report directly to the Sr. Director of Infrastructure Engineering.
- Drive value delivery for technical programs including prioritization, planning, risk management, execution, and measurement of success
- Partner with Product and Engineering leads throughout the life of the program on value delivery and process/practice improvements
- Build relationships within and across teams to lead stakeholders toward a common goal
- Foster decision-making across multiple teams and stakeholders, spanning multiple locations
- Effectively communicate to ensure program requirements, timelines, objectives, and expectations are understood and supported by internal and external stakeholders
- Aid in resolving impediments, conflicts, demands, and priorities for their team and across teams
- Proactively manage in scope changes and priority shifts. Work unplanned program issues to resolution (with support as appropriate), including the development of plans forward, escalation, and increased capacity, support, or other resources. Recognize risk and form mitigation plans as required
- Drive continuous improvement in their team and develop effective, scalable, and sustainable ways of working
- Evangelize technical project & program management best practices within their team and across partner teams
- Proven track record for delivering cross-functional programs in a fast-paced environment including planning, leading the resolution of blocking issues, and effective change management
- Ability to distill complex or technical concepts into clear, structured communications and action plans
- Ability to balance a detail- and process-oriented mindset with a focus on outcomes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to be personable yet persistent with authentic interpersonal interactions
- Ability to influence and work through others where direct reporting relationships do not exist
- You are truly a "do-er", willing to get hands-on solving any problems needed to help the program move forward
- Excellent facilitation skills, with an orientation to look for areas of agreement, a down to earth approach to conflict management, and an ability to hear unvoiced concerns
- Ability to manage through change while maintaining focus on outcomes
- Experience delivering technical programs, with preference for experience in cloud infrastructure and platform development
- Experience working in both Agile (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and waterfall-based environments
- Experience with the Atlassian suite (Jira and Confluence) highly desired, in particular for managing the flow of value and delivering curated information to appropriate stakeholders
- Certifications preferred in Scrum, Agile, and/or Scaled Agile Framework

- We reward our employees. The base salary range for this position is between $120,000 - $150,000 based on relevant years of experience and skills. The salary range for this role is specific to candidates located within the U.S. and will vary for candidates outside the U.S.. Employees may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees including grants of equity upon hire and the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
