What You’ll Do:
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for getting things done. The role manages a portfolio of complex, cross-functional technology projects to successful completion, generating value for student athletes and their families, college coaches and our teammates in IMG Academy and NCSA. Beyond mere progress tracking, successful project managers dive deep into the mechanics of projects alongside their teams to provide context and structure for planning and decision-making. The Technical Project Manager focuses on continuous improvement, helping teams focus by lightening their administrative overhead. Its success is measured by the degree of transparency and alignment maintained amongst stakeholders and the delivery of new capabilities and benefits in the implementation of projects.
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders, subject matter experts, and technical leads across the company and its partners to deliver technology projects with internal and external software teams.
  • Serve as the single point of accountability and communication for company-wide initiatives comprising a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional program of related technology projects.
  • Manage business and technical requirements gathering, turning documentation into plans and roadmaps, clarifying ambiguities or interpretation gaps prior to translation into epics or user stories.
  • Ensure scope of work for projects is defined, maintained, and actively updated, minimizing scope creep, tracking variance, and facilitating change requests to manage budget or schedule impacts.
  • Manage resource allocation, budgeting, scheduling, and prioritization, documenting key assumptions and critical dependencies established through planning, forecasting and estimation.
  • Provide transparent communication to key stakeholders around project health and delivery, identifying dependencies, mitigating risks, and leading organizational change management.
  • Distill complex issues, technical considerations and team feedback into clear direction and consensus-building, formulating action plans in meetings and asynchronous updates.
  • Anticipate constraints, issues, risks, and impediments, providing a framework for escalation, tradeoffs, and balancing business needs with technical constraints with stakeholder alignment.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts by understanding dependencies between and development of effective relationships across business unit, development, and external vendor and partner teams.
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards to measure, track and analyze performance across tasks, teams, and deliverables to uncover performance optimization insights and opportunities.
  • Champion technical and operational excellence, establishing initiative, project and team metrics for consistent and ongoing self-assessment and improvement of team health and delivery.
  • Actively maintain a clear and reasonable vision of "next steps" and the "big picture" during meetings, capturing and distributing action items and follow ups after all planning sessions, team meetings and stakeholder conversations.
You Have These:
  • You have 3+ years of experience in technical program and project management in organizations developing consumer-facing software or implementing enterprise software-as-a-service for 500+ person teams, with 3+ years’ experience managing software and professional services vendors.
  • You have managed multiple simultaneous software projects in a complex, matrixed environment, managing multiple stakeholders, delivering from inception to post-implementation, as the overall lead across multi-disciplinary teams within an agile framework.
  • You thrive in environments where making pragmatic prioritization decisions across complex interdependent teams is a constant, and rapidly adapt to dynamic shifts in priorities and projects.
  • You lead by helping people from diverse backgrounds grasp a sense of the possibilities, building consensus with a tangible yet pragmatic optimism and generating self-sustaining accountability.
  • You know how to motivate people by providing a clear, consistent narrative about how their work contributes to organizational success, while giving them the space for autonomy and mastery.
  • You are skilled at honest, vulnerable, and transparent communication and negotiation, able to adjust your style, method and format based on audience, to build relationships and trust.
  • You are comfortable speaking unpleasant truths, serving as the voice of reason and generating authority by helping teams to confront challenges.
  • You are unafraid of contentious issues, enjoy drawing conflict out into the open, and seek opportunities to manage it constructively rather than letting things fester.
  • You enjoy teaching and coaching to create mutual understanding of technical, operational, and business considerations across the various stakeholders in the projects you manage.
  • You have a level of technical depth and judgment required to earn the trust and respect of engineers and the the ability to balance their technical decisions with pragmatic business context.
  • You have sufficient knowledge and experience across Sales, Marketing, and Operations business domains to understand people’s motivations, considerations, and the ramifications of decisions.
  • You have deep expertise working with enterprise software-as-a-service platforms, in either a business architect, project manager, developer, administrator or customer success role.
