Technical Support Software Engineer

As the Technical Support Software Engineer, you will perform post-sales remote support and on-site technical software support for Sartorius’ US Service organization. You will assist with software troubleshooting, installation, configuration, testing and training for new installations, upgrades, and maintenance. You will also acquire an excellent level of product knowledge and serve as a liaison between the US Service organization and engineering staff located in the US and in the UK. This position is based at our facility in Bohemia, NY.

What you will accomplish together with us:

  • Assist customers throughout the biotech industry to resolve and escalate service issues with R&D and production equipment and software applications without the need for management intervention.
  • Maintain a productive relationship with manufacturing, engineering, and project teams, providing ideas for product improvement.
  • Take ownership of more advanced technical software issues, and work with our Internal product groups and external third-party software developers to find resolutions for these issues when necessary.
  • Document troubleshooting and problem resolution steps.
  • Log and manage service issues in our CRM system.
  • Assist with software upgrades, enhancements and problem solving in the field.
  • Manage new software releases and system configuration details.
  • Effectively coordinate training for field engineers and end users to enable successful installations, preventative maintenance, and repairs.

What will convince us:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT discipline or engineering, or 10 plus years of experience in supporting automation in a laboratory or production environment that utilized Aveva/Wonderware.
  • 3+ years’ professional experience with Aveva/Wonderware, InTouch and Historian
  • 5+ years’ professional experience in at least three of these five areas:
    • Supporting software-controlled automation equipment.
    • Experience with databases, Sybase, Oracle, SQLSERVER or MS Access
    • Experience of PLCs such as DeltaV, Siemens, Emerson or AB.
    • Knowledge of OPC data suite
    • Experience with complex fault finding.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficient with Windows OS skills.
  • Proficient with PC networking, TCP/IP.
  • Self-motivated, conscientious, and reliable.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Able to prioritize workload and customer demands.
  • Strong team player who works well with others.

Compensation for this position will be a base salary between $85,000.00 and $125,000.00 depending upon experience and qualifications, plus bonus.
