Technical Trainer

Your contribution:

Responsible for conducting technical training programs for both internal and external customers. Assists with evaluating and creating training programs. Conducts classes regarding safety, security, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of software and instruments.


  • Conduct technical training programs for Tecan associates and customers on instrument software and hardware (minimum of 70% of role).
  • Evaluate training and development effectiveness by assessing trainee performance; provide feedback to trainee and manager(s) regarding training class performance and/or future training and work restructuring.
  • Continuously enhance technical instructional delivery and presentation skills.
  • Collaborate with Technical Training Manager and/or Sr. Technical Trainer in preparing new and updating customer and technical service training materials as well as material for other departments.
  • Assist in identifying training and development needs by analyzing organization results, job requirements, operational problems, plans and forecasts and current training programs; and provide recommendations for instructional methodologies.
  • Maintain knowledge of instructional technologies by attending workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; participate in professional societies.
  • Perform training administrative duties, including but not limited to maintaining class attendee records and other relevant information, communicating class information and requirements to customers, resolving customer training class issues, coordinating catering for lunches as necessary, and assisting Tecan staff with technical inquires.
  • Participate in customer on-site training, customer meetings, and/or trade show events, as needed.
  • Participate in customer-facing lunches/dinners, as required during class training weeks.
  • Maintain training rooms and equipment and complete relevant documentation. Evaluate equipment and service capabilities and arrange for equipment repair or replacement, including software/computer upgrades as needed.
  • Assist with achieving financial objectives by recommending guidelines/procedures for the training and development budget; scheduling expenditures; initiating corrective actions.
  • Handle essential tasks as assigned and respond to change productively.
  • Follow all local safety procedures, State and Federal OSHA Regulations, and report any safety concerns. Complete ladder inspections. Manage the training program in accordance with business needs, regulatory requirements, and Quality Management System.

Your background

  • BS degree or higher in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, and/or Automation.
  • Minimum 3 years hands on technical experience with Robotic Sample Processors including application development and service experience is desired
  • 1-3 years previous experience leading classroom style training in a related field.
  • Well-developed PC/MAC skill level, including MS Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, word processing software.
  • Must have and maintain technical expertise on all product lines requirements to be a Tecan Certified Trainer
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Professional presentation skills required.
  • Strong aptitude for acquiring in-depth software and mechanical skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills are important.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to interact effectively with diverse groups inside and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to multitask.
  • High level of commitment and initiative.
