Who You Are:
A Technical Writer’s primary job is to lead in the management and production of documentation throughout the product life-cycle. The employee will collect, analyze, coordinate and refine raw technical content on the product provided by the engineering staff in order to produce clear finished documents of the subject matter geared toward the intended audience. Documentation includes software help files, user guides, user/administrator/ maintenance manuals, white papers, design specifications, installation guides, training materials, and system manuals.
  • Working directly with engineers to identify/research product functions, attributes, capabilities, characteristics, or qualities to create end-user documentation
  • Editing and proofreading technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, sales proposals and specifications
  • Ensuring technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and company specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style
  • Creating and maintaining style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations or equivalent
  • Coordinating dependencies with other groups and/or document development efforts
  • Writing and developing written products to explain technical information or clarify issues
  • Using libraries, files, databases and contacts to gather information
  • Using desktop publishing technology to write or edit materials, develop graphics, prepare layouts and disseminate final products
  • Integrating materials from multiple sources and blending them into a unified product
  • Designing, creating, reviewing and maintaining documents and performing final edits

Requirements:

  • Ability to create documentation in the following forms: printed, web-based or other electronic documentation, and training materials
  • Ability to convey technical material in a concise and effective manner
  • Experience visualizing or diagramming systems and processes
  • Familiarity with plain language guidelines
  • Experience with G-Suite and Confluence
  • Excellent working knowledge of Diagramming and using diagramming tools
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication and team collaboration skills
    • Experience working with Engineers (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, etc.)
    • Strong technical skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional grammar, spelling, communication, organization and time management skills
  • Abilities to layout and format documents
  • Strong attention to details
  • Good communication with other engineering disciplines and manufacturing
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Technical skills in engineering design, software architecture, training material development, illustration, typography and user interfaces
  • Demonstrated ability to work under little direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to be flexible when encountering constantly changing requirements
  • Ability to do independent problem solving when necessary
The pay for this position has a salary range of $80,000-$110,000. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and options.
