Technical Writer - Manufacturing

Intralox, L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, has a position available for a Technical Writer in our Harahan headquarters.

The position is for a Technical Writer in our Manufacturing Engineering Group (MEG). The desired applicant has excellent interpersonal skills, a deep curiosity to learn about and document this area of the business, the ability to take projects from start to finish, and strong writing skills. This writer works closely with project managers, engineers, technicians, and other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the Plastics, Quality, and ThermoDrive departments to create equipment manuals for custom designed production equipment, procedural documentation, and training material used to improve production processes. This position can be done primarily remotely but will require routine visits to our Harahan and Hammond campuses.

Responsibilities:

Write maintenance manuals, operator manuals, procedures, and other technical documentation to help a wide audience of workers complete essential job tasks
Work closely with SMEs and end users to ensure accurate content and update content as needed
Meet with SMEs in person to learn about equipment, take photos for documentation, and develop content
Manage projects from kickoff through completion and deliver quality documentation on time
Maintain document control by managing administration of documentation libraries, document ID system, revision logs, metadata, and release notifications
Use Word, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, SmartSheet, SharePoint, Excel, and MS Teams to accomplish job responsibilities

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or related field experience
Minimum of 5 years’ combined experience with technical writing, proofreading, and editing
Exceptional communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization, including technical personnel and management
Must be self-managed, highly motivated, detail oriented, and have high quality standards
Able to understand and describe complicated systems with simple words
Must be able to complete projects from start to finish, in an efficient and consistent manner
High level skills in Adobe Acrobat, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Highly motivated team player possessing a continuous improvement mindset

Desired Requirement:

Experience with Adobe FrameMaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
