Partnering with the President, the CFO will be a critical player in driving business strategy and operations, playing a leading role in capital allocation, performance analysis and incentives that drive profitable operations. The CFO will help increase shareholder value by driving operational and financial goals, helping the business scale and identify and capture revenue growth and investment opportunities. Interacting with TEGNA corporate, Premion Board of Directors, and external stakeholders is a critical component of this role.The ideal candidate is a hands-on, strategic and operationally strong financial executive with experience in the media, digital advertising and/or other relevant digital media or technology sectors. The ideal candidate has a strong background in FP&A and financial management, including forecasting, analytics and performance measurement, reporting and controls, treasury, balance sheet management, and expense and efficiency. Commercial judgment and a business-partner mindset are key qualifications. We seek someone with expertise guiding the build and oversight of financial systems and infrastructure to support rapid growth objectives. The CFO will also be a collaborative and effective team leader who is passionate about driving excellence and inspires trust and confidence.The position can be based in locations aligned with the Premion/TEGNA domestic locations, with a preference for New York City or Washington, DC.Responsibilities:• Strategic Partner . Serve as a business partner and strategic advisor to the President, Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors of Premion on a wide range of financial, strategic, operational and organizational issues. Interface with peers to evaluate and advise on the financial impact of short- and long-term strategic and operational plans. Support the analysis of potential M&A transactions.• Operational Finance . Drive the continued build of finance infrastructure, including integrated processes, systems and teams. Partner with executive management to develop and manage the company's key operating mechanisms. Partner with commercial and development leaders to provide relevant and timely analysis, benchmarks and business insights that inform business decisions and drive profitable growth. Develop and review financial forecasts with senior management to assure business performance in line with expectations and external guidance. Recommend actions for improvement as appropriate.• Financial Planning & Analysis . Develop and oversee strategic long-term planning, objectives, goals and policies for the business. Maintain and enhance a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which ensures adequate cash/working capital to meet operating needs. Lead the company's annual budget process and overall financial modeling, planning and analysis functions.• Stewardship . Supervise the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including any required tax filings and analysis of performance, variance and cash flow to the strictest standards of accounting and the law. Ensure the fiscal integrity of the business through enhancement and management of accounting systems and controls. Manage the relationship with the company's external auditors.• Team Leadership . Recruit, develop, motivate and retain a highly effective finance team capable of working closely alongside corporate and business-unit leadership teams to help drive results. Develop the next generation of finance talent for the organization.• M&A/Corporate Development . In partnership with the President, build the M&A finance capability in deal modeling, analysis, synergies, deal structuring, financial/risk due diligence and integration.Requirements:IDEAL EXPERIENCESenior Finance LeadershipDemonstrated track record of success as a CFO or senior finance leader across major finance disciplines. An early foundation or prior experience with FP&A and/or accounting and controls is desirable.Operational ExpertiseA successful track record of developing dynamic modeling and FP&A processes to support decision-making. Hands-on engagement in forecasting and budgeting; operational engagement in driving commercial outcomes versus "keeping score;" willingness and interest to roll up sleeves alongside teammates, get into the details and capable of evaluating operations firsthand.Industry ExperienceExperience in a major media, digital advertising or digital media/technology organization. Exposure to business models with advertising and/or subscription revenues desirable.Business PartnershipTrack record of confident and decisive finance leadership, while displaying a management style that emphasizes intense collaboration, communication and commitment. Proven effectiveness in a lean, high-performance and geographically-dispersed environmentTeam Building/Organizational DevelopmentRelevant experience building, motivating, guiding and leading a high-performing finance team, including processes and systems beyond people. Excellent communication, teaming and people skills to interact effectively across the organization.Education and Professional CertificationsStrong academic credentials, including an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting or other relevant area. CPA and/or MBA desirable.CRITICAL LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIESOperational and Strategic Finance Acumen• Enables higher performance by furthering the analytical and commercial capabilities and insights of the finance function and contributing to operational issues for the executive team and the Board.• While supporting top line growth, remains deeply and constantly focused on controlling and reducing costs and driving increased profitability.• Knits the finance function into the larger business to drive growth and innovation.• Proactively seeks to improve processes and implement best-in-class solutions, especially by means of metrics, dashboards, unit economics and analytical finance.• Identifies new processes, procedures and systems to improve productivity and to make Premion more efficient and profitable.• Develops and articulates, both internally and externally, a clear vision and strategy for the finance function, as well as the overall business.• Thinks 3-5 years ahead.Collaborating, Influencing & Leadership• Engages colleagues in discussion around the business direction, conveying Premion's vision and direction to the finance team and broader business partners.• Delegates projects with a clear set of agreed objectives/measures of success.• Translates Premion's business goals into priorities and individual performance measurements that are aligned with broader team progress goals and communicates regularly about long-term goals to reinforce the larger intent.• Frequently reviews project progress and seeks corrective actions when needed, with finance as well as the broader organization.• Motivates employees at all levels and empowers them through their leadership style.Pay Range$200,000 - $200,000 USDBenefits:TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental and financial health of our employees and their families.
