The Office of the Dean of Students at California College of the Arts seeks a Temporary Access / Disability Services Intake Coordinator. This role involves supporting enrolled students with permanent or temporary physical, psychological, or sensory disabilities (including pregnancy-related disabilities). The successful candidate will work under the Associate Director for Disability & Access, assisting in the interactive process to mitigate barriers and promote accessibility to the college's learning objectives.
This position is part-time (20 hours/week) temporary position, with an anticipated end date of May, 2024.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Disability & Access Intake Support - 65%

Conduct guided intake interviews with students to identify barriers in their learning environment and gather additional information.

Maintain and update student records, case files, and interactions using Salesforce and other relevant tools.

Connect students to resources regarding mental/medical support, on-campus resources, community resources, and technology-related resources.

Support students with questions about how to access their accommodations.

Support requests in remediating inaccessible files for faculty, staff, and students.

Refer students to departmental leadership as student needs exceed the guided interview's scope of support.
- Reviewing relevant Verification of Disability forms, medical documentation, and/or psychological/psychoeducational evaluations to verify a disability.

Recommend accommodations for students to be reviewed and approved by Associate Director for Disability & Access.
Program Support - 25%

Support the Dean of Students Office's programming efforts that promote proactive service delivery for students, faculty, and staff.

Contribute to education programming and opportunities for students to explore disability identity in ways that acknowledge intersections with other types of personal and group identity.
- Assist the outreach efforts of Access / Disability Services by including information about Disability Services with the larger CCA Community via newsletters, social media posts, and orientation presentations.
- Aid in implementing workshops and engagement events for non-residential and residential students on relevant topics of concern.
Support Office Priorities - 10%
- Assist in backup or support of Office staff during peak seasons or times of transition, change, or time away.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1-2 Years of Experience working in similar areas, such as administration.

Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn relevant software tools, including but not limited to Google Workspace, Workday, Adobe Suite, and Zoom.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including on rare nights and/or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience working within a higher education, art-based, or non-profit environment.

Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended.

Basic understanding of Universal Design for Learning and/or alternative learning theories rooted in accessibility.

Familiarity with the difference between the medical model of disability and the social model of disability and a working understanding of ableism.

The job responsibilities of this position may require time regularly spent on campus, and therefore the incumbent will be asked to follow the CCA vaccination requirement, unless an exemption is approved. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The compensation for the position is $26/hour.

CCA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including the choice of five medical plans, generous holiday, sick & vacation time, a retirement match and tuition remission. CCA covers an average of 91% of the medical plan cost for the employee only and an average of 82% for employees with dependents. POSITION DETAILS:

CCA considers a full-time work week to be 37.5 hours per week.

This is a temporary, part-time (20 hours) position with an anticipated end date of May 2024.

The anticipated work schedule would occur between regular business hours of Monday-Friday from 9 am-4:30 pm.

This position is covered under the staff union collective bargaining agreement and will be required to contribute to union dues/agency fees.
