Position Description

Reporting to the Associate Director for Community Engagement and Learning Initiatives, the Summer Housing and Residence Life ACUHO-I Intern will assist in various special projects and committee work that align with our Jesuit values and will help further the great work within Housing and Residence Life. Specific initiatives the Summer Housing and Residence Life ACUHO-I Intern will focus on will be discussed at the start of the internship, the Summer Intern will be part of a Residential Curriculum development, planning, implementation, and assessment plan, known as the Redhawk Residential Experience. The Summer Housing and Residence Life ACUHO-I Intern will also serve on the Senior Team on-call rotation for the duration of their employment. Furthermore, the Summer Housing and Residence Life ACUHO-I Intern may have the opportunity to work with other leadership team members to identify projects based on desired skills and interests to help tailor their internship experience to their professional development goals.

Other Experiences may include but are not limited to:
Residence Hall Closing and/or Opening plans and implementation (depends on the start and end date)
Benchmarking and Research on best practices for Student Staff selection for schools that utilize a Residential Curriculum model
Work on Departmental Leadership Initiatives and Residence Hall Association training/advising
Departmental marketing initiatives and social media guidelines

Professional Development
Seattle University, the Division of Student Development, and Housing and Residence Life are making changes in line with the university’s Strategic Direction. The Summer Housing and Residence Life ACUHO-I Intern will have the opportunity to be part of big-picture conversations that help shape the direction of the Housing and Residence Life department. Additionally, the Summer Housing and Residence Life ACUHO-I Intern will have the opportunity to help shape how Seattle U Housing and Residence Life applies The 10 Essential Elements of a Residential Curriculum as discussed at ACPA – College Student Educator’s International’s Residential Curriculum Institute. Furthermore, Summer Housing and Residence Life ACUHO-I Intern will have the opportunity to interact and work with other Division of Student Development leaders to learn more about their career paths and understand how their work contributes to Seattle U’s mission and Strategic Direction.

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: 21.67

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.

Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Seattle University provides generous leave, health plans, and retirement contributions that add to your total compensation package.

Temporary staff colleagues paid by Seattle University’s payroll system are not eligible for all of Seattle University’s health and welfare benefits. In addition, temporary staff colleagues are eligible to enroll and direct a percentage of their paychecks to a personal retirement account with Fidelity Investments.
