Our next Compliance Manager will be responsible for effective development and maintenance of regulatory operations for TerrAscend NJ operating under New Jersey medical and adult-use cannabis regulations. The Compliance Manager will also have one direct report, The Retail Compliance Specialist.


You will be challenged to work strategically and tactically to drive the successful regulatory performance of all New Jersey licensed facilities. 

One minute you will be working with the NJ CRC regarding an updated regulatory policy

The next minute partnering with NJ Leadership in Operations to review a compliance audit

And the next minute developing and rolling out a new compliance procedure

Regardless of the task, it’s critical you have strong situational awareness and EQ as you’ll work with diverse teams across the organization


Where you'll be planted:

This is a on-site position in our Boonton, NJ facility. This role also requires travel to our dispensaries in New Jersey (Lodi, Maplewood, and Phillipsburg).


To be blunt, this role will be about:
  • Aiding in the development and submittal of standard operating procedures, critical documentation as required by New Jersey rules and regulations.
  • Conducting regulatory compliance assessments to ensure conformance with New Jersey cannabis rules, regulations, and associated laws.
  • Regularly traveling to permitted New Jersey cultivation, processor, and dispensary locations to work closely with staff on operations compliance, code of conduct, safety, and security standards.
  • Ensuring all required reporting to New Jersey state regulators is on time and adequate with rules and regulations.
  • Utilizing the company’s internal management software and point of sale system to monitor quality operations including but not limited to inventory tracking, sales compliance, lot, and batch tracking.
  • Staying up to date with changes in regulatory legislation and guidelines pertaining to cannabis.
  • Working with assigned Commission regulatory officials to ensure that all required documentation is in full compliance.
  • Assisting with the drafting, reviewal, and approval of retail standard operating procedures.
  • Reviewing executed product labels, certificate of analyses, and other quality control records to ensure company standards are being held.
  • Performing root cause analysis for inventory deviations and variances as required and report to management.
  • Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the assigned regulatory processes throughout cultivation, processing, and dispensary facilities.
  • Becoming a subject matter expert in all applicable internal management and inventory systems.
  • Reviewing and assessing sales reports, product deliveries, and other critical documentation.
  • Being knowledgeable of safe workplace operations including security systems and OSHA requirements where applicable.

  • Minimum of 5 years of compliance and/or related professional experience.
  • Strong understanding and practical knowledge of regulatory operations.
  • Ability to lead and supervise employees
  • Must have good organizational and computer skills. 
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs. (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communications skills as well as the ability to multitask.
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a comprehensive background check.
