Position Summary
This is a hybrid position located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Must be a U.S. Person as defined in applicable law, or otherwise authorized or eligible for authorization, to access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
The Project Accountant reports to the Financial Controller and provides day-to-day project accounting support to Business Controllers and Project Management in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position is responsible for the accounting of several $20M+ projects with annual revenues of $35-40M
Key Areas of Responsibility
Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PM) regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, and approvals.
Manages and report financial aspects of the project.
Allocates the program budget in line with the bid, and opens and closes expenditure authorizations as and when they are executed.
Reviews cost estimates after execution.
Manages contingencies and provisions for contractual and financial risks.
Analyzes work in progress and reviews program expenditures (expenses correctly accounted for, authorized contingencies, invoices, etc.).
Optimizes and monitors sales, margins, and cash balances.
Provides the Project Manager and their team with all necessary financial data and any information of possible consequence.
Prepares and validates all economic and accounting information (dashboards, etc.), factoring in foreseeable developments and anticipating necessary actions (cost control).
Establishes financial control rules and ensures they are correctly applied.
Compile information for internal and external auditors as required.
Assist in Multi-Year Budget preparation
Prepare Time & Material and Cost Plus Billings
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
At least a minimum of 1 years of relevant accounting work experience
Comfortable with MS Office and various ERP systems, especially Excel.
Above average Analytical skills
Self-starter with experience working autonomously
Above average written and verbal communication skills
Above average organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications (education is the first bullet, if applicable)
SAP financial systems preferred
Experience in Project Accounting
Special Position Requirements
Travel: Anticipated that regular domestic travel will be required, estimated at about 1 week per month, or approximately 25% annually.
Customer Location Based or Site Visits: Thales USA, Inc. Overland Park, KS and Salt Lake City Utah. If hired in Utah, very little travel will occur. If hired in Kansas, then some travel will be required.
