As part of the Product Management team the Business Analyst will assist the Development team with tasks related to customer satisfaction, product development, and leadership. This role will help to lead the planning and execution of key areas of our flagship NetMenu Food and Nutrition SaaS platform. This product enables hospitals, universities and senior living organizations, create and manage foodservice menus, manage operations and ensure feeding of patients, guests, students, staff and residents respectively.

 

What You’ll be Doing

Product Analysts help build innovative software products for our customers. Product development is an extremely collaborative effort between engineering, design, product management and other customer-facing teams.  The ideal candidate is curious, resourceful, and has a metrics/data-driven analytical mindset. The Product Analyst role is a launchpad to other Product Management roles including Product Ownership and Product Management.

  • Data research & analysis – Creatively obtain and vet data, develop and execute quantitative analyses with potentially incomplete data, and cross-check results to identify potential inconsistencies or limitations. Define detailed functional requirements, process flow diagrams, and business cases, including gap and impact analyses.
  • Business insights – Understand business implications of observations, interviews, and analyses. Establish and support the rhythm of business activities related to reporting, including audit planning cycle and metrics.
  • Communication – Craft polished written communications and deliver oral communications of findings and recommendations in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Influence – Collaborate positively with product stakeholders to secure support and implement recommendations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategy – Develop business segment strategies, research markets & competitors, articulate value propositions, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Problem structuring – Identify key issues, develop hypotheses and methodology to verify or refute them.
  • Drive discussions with product owner and/or business partners to understand the process, the problem, and then brainstorm solution scenarios.
  • Actively engage product owner or business SME to translate solution needs into actionable user stories.
  • Facilitate and support product backlog management.
  • Partner with product owners/SMEs to define and refine acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with developers on reviewing user stories for understanding and scoring.
  • Negotiate with product owners/business experts on alternative solutions.
  • Review test cases for user stories.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing to ensure functionality meets business needs before each product release.

 

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of Product Domain or Product Analyst experience.
  • Food Production experience desired.
  • Desire to learn Product Development and Software Craft.
  • Special skills: 
    • Exceptional facilitation, presentation, communication and writing skills.
    • Excellent research, critical thinking, follow-through, prioritization and organizational skills.
    • Data-driven decision maker with attention to detail.
  • People skills: Diplomatic, empathetic, personable, organized, collaborative, self-starter, relationship-builder.

Who You’ll Work With

As a member of the agile team(s), you will serve as the voice of the customer and a liaison to the software development personnel.  You will refine and prioritize the backlog with your Product Owner partner so that the solution effectively addresses priorities and dependencies, while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of the features. This role serves as the person to clearly decompose requirements into user stories that the development teams can utilize to write softwareThis role will also serve as the frontline defense with support issues that need recommendations on next steps.  You will serve as the role that is in direct communication with both the Product Managers and Product Owners on the team as well as the Scrum Master and other Development and QA personnel as needed.
