IT Systems Administrator

Join the H-Team as an IT System Administrator!


Our Information Technology department is looking for a dedicated IT System Administrator to ensure the seamless and secure operation of our computer systems. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and safeguarding the organization's data and internal systems against potential intrusions and viruses, keeping our technology secure and up-to-date.


As the IT System Administrator, you’ll collaborate with colleagues, managers, and vendors, translating technical information into clear, non-technical terms when needed. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to thrive within a small IT team.


This full-time role (40 hours per week) may require occasional nights and weekends to support business operations.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Monitor and test system performance for capacity planning
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Provide Tier III/other support per request from various teams
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Update software as needed to ensure optimal functionality and security
  • Manage server virtualization technologies


Qualifications:
  • A Computer Information Systems degree (or equivalent) and/or relevant IT certifications ideal, plus 5 years of relevant experience as a system administrator or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and database management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide both guidelines and practical solutions.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in-person and over the phone (patience a must).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high customer service standards.
  • Aptitude for communicating complex concepts to a general audience.
