Hill & Knowlton is seeking a talented Account Manager to join our Mobility and Transportation team to lead PR strategy and campaigns for one of our automotive accounts. The ideal candidate is someone who feels a strong sense of responsibility for the client/agency relationship; is a leader who inspires others and finds professional satisfaction in delivering high-quality work every day.

A passion for media relations isn’t just a plus, it’s a must-have: The successful candidate will have a knack for storytelling and pitch development and enjoy fostering relationships with clients and reporters alike. We’re looking for candidates who bring enthusiasm and curiosity to the job, experience in the auto industry, understand our role as counselors, and seeks to learn everything they can about the industry their clients are a part of. What you’ll be doing:

  • Serving as a client-facing leader on our automotive account, working with client contacts and internal teams to execute objectives and maintain client satisfaction
  • Helping conceptualize and implement successful client programs
  • Acting as a storyteller, shaping the client narrative to secure media placements
  • Maintaining strong relationships with key endemic, business and trade media contacts – this will come to life as a region PR lead for both media and trade association events
  • Staffing events with our clients or on behalf of our clients; the role will require some travel
  • Developing and supporting client strategy and planning
  • Demonstrating and encouraging creativity and innovation, both from a client service and team culture standpoint
  • Effectively articulating ideas to clients, colleagues and others using your strong communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrating a passion for all things automotive – being on the pulse of what’s happening in the industry and understanding the implications for our client
  • Well-versed in synthesizing information to deliver timely insights
  • Helping lead and mentor a talented group of agency professionals, overseeing project management, day-to-day account work and individual client programs

 

What you’ll need to get here:

  • 4+ years’ PR/strategic communications experience; agency experience preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related experience is preferred
  • Background in the automotive industry
  • A firm grasp of the media landscape and a solid bench of key media contacts
  • Experience working with junior team members, account management and career development initiatives
  • Track record of success developing and executing PR/communications programs to achieve a client’s objectives
  • Proven success in building and maintaining strong relationships with client contacts
  • Ability to communicate with charisma and ease in a variety of forums including client meetings
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines and work with quality and efficiency
  • Adaptable self-starter, able to work independently and collaborate within a complex, multi-agency environment including remote team members
  • Professionalism, poise and confidence participating in a variety of situations including client presentations and events
