Job Req ID: 115368Motion Graphics ArtistJHU Carey Business School is seeking a qualified media professional for an on call/as needed casual role as Motion Graphics Video Editor. This role will work remotely and is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, developing, building, and delivering high quality, on brand animations and motion graphics as well as Edits video content for online courses. This role will produce standalone motion graphics or animations for T&L projects as well as editorial projects including but not limited to Documentaries, Course Lectures, Promotional Spots etc. Reporting to the Video Specialist Supervisor, you will also collaborate with other team members; video specialists and interactive developers to support the development of supplemental, short motion graphic elements for video projects or animations and edited standalone pieces for interactive projects.The successful incumbent must have a passion for animation and skills in typography, explainers, 2d character design and creatively tying visuals to a voice over script in creative and engaging ways. You must also be competent editing raw video footage into finished videos such as documentaries, course lectures, video promotional pieces using a script and shoot notes. An understanding of, or experience with c4d, green screen work, sound design, illustration and video editing are highly desired.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesAnimation and Motion Graphics Development [45%]• Use the Adobe Suite along with Cinema 4D and plugins to generate visually compelling animated videos to deliver instructional content in engaging ways.• Work effectively with a multitude of departments and multimedia specialists (video editors, graphic designers, producers, etc.) to create compelling videos that help convey educational content in a visually engaging way.• Be able to record and edit audio associated with motion graphics or animation projects.• Find new and innovative opportunities to translate storyboards into engaging visual experiences.• Collaborate with video experts to elevate the quality of animation or motion graphics that are integrated into video projects.• Take ownership of projects by outlining the initial creative vision, creating storyboards, and executing design concepts.• Assist in the selection of audio, graphics, colors, and animation styles, that help to achieve the creative goals of projects.• Take part in the review and QA of other multimedia team projects.Video Editorial [45%]• Use the Adobe Suite to generate visually compelling edited videos to deliver instructional content in engaging ways.• Work effectively with a multitude of departments and multimedia specialists (video editors, graphic designers, producers, etc.) to create compelling videos that help convey educational content in a visually engaging way.• Be able to edit audio associated with live sound, motion graphics or animation projects.• Find new and innovative opportunities to translate storyboards into engaging visual experiences.• Collaborate with video experts to elevate the quality of animation or video edits that are integrated into projects.• Take ownership of projects by outlining the initial creative vision, creating storyboards, and executing design concepts and incorporating them into finished edited pieces.• Assist in the selection of audio, graphics, colors, and animation styles, that help to achieve the creative goals of projects.• Take part in the review and QA of other multimedia team projects.Quality assurance of finished work, revisions and final submission [10%]• Review 3rd party interactive content for quality and consistency as needed.Special Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities• Proven expertise with Adobe Creative Suite to produce completed projects.• Create, design and execute graphics and finished edited videos in Adobe Suite.• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After effects, Premiere, Audition with familiarity in Cinema 4D.• Strong understanding of graphic design software: After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop.• Thorough understanding of all phases of video production, with a focus on post-production editing and Motion Design.• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work well under tight deadlines.• Sense of visual rhythm and sense of composition and style.Minimum Qualifications• High School Diploma/GED required.• Four years related experience, including multimedia production with a specialized focus in motion graphics, animation and video production required.• Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.• Portfolio with relevant work experience and examples required.Preferred Qualifications• Bachelor’s Degree in art or comparable work experience.• Interest in design, conceptualization and execution of broadcast graphics for on air and off-air programing, digital design, image promotion and non-broadcast video projects.• Five to seven Years professional or broadcast experience in video editing, design, motion graphics and animation as well as incorporating those graphics into finished edits.• Skills in the development of 3D graphics.Classified Title: Animation ArtistJob Posting Title (Working Title): Motion Graphics ArtistRole/Level/Range: ATP/03/PBStarting Salary Range: $23.69 - $41.43 HRLY ($9,000.00 targeted; Commensurate with experience)Employee group: Casual / On CallSchedule: As neededExempt Status: ExemptLocation: RemoteDepartment name: Teaching and Learning @ CareyPersonnel area: Carey Business SchoolTotal RewardsThe referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position.
