Location: Santa Ana, CASalary: $80,000.00 USD Annually - $120,000.00 USD AnnuallyDescriptionSummary of Position:Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller should have strong analytical, technological, and organizational skills. The Assistant Controller must be familiar and experienced in all aspects of financial management, corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Due to interactions with the controller, executive management, auditors and other company personnel, it is essential that the Assistant Controller possess the ability to work in teams.Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):• Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices• Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements• Audit work flow to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standards• Delegate data entry tasks with junior accounting staff• Prepare and consolidate financial statements• Reviews and justifies expense reports and other expenditures• Establish and maintain internal controls• Manage all aspects of the general ledger• Coordinate financial audits with the CFO• Handles special projects as requested by management• Assists controller with a variety of tasks as needed• Providing monthly, quarterly and year-end analyses• Coordinating or assisting with the budget process• Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles• Analyze and report cost variances• Help maintain accountability of the financial resources of Skeffington Enterprises• Serve as a liaison to external auditors• Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting departments• Stays current on changes in regulations and other industry news• Participate as a vital team member and contribute towards the success of the company• Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employeesQualifications• BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is preferred• Professional certification (e.g. CPA, CFM, CMA) is a plus• Valid Driver License• Proven experience as assistant controller or other similar position• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)• Understanding of data analysis and forecasting• Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software• Well-organized with ability to prioritize• Very good communication and interpersonal skills• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability• Experience managing staff and third party hired firms• Must be an effective communicator, generating professional written material and delivering effective verbal presentations• Construction Background• VISTA Accounting Software is a PLUSWorking Qualifications• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination, good depth perception and the ability to set controls quickly, precisely and repeatedly• Must be physically able to lift and carry at least 40 lbs.• Be able to work overtime when required• Must have strong work ethic• Ability to work in a team setting• Communication skills; ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors and the general public in a courteous, professional manner at all times• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures• Pass Pre-employment drug screening and maintain compliance with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements• Pass Pre-employment physical and medical evaluation• Must comply with the company’s Fleet safety Management Policy & Accountability to Safety Code of Safe Practices• Must comply with company’s Discrimination & Harassment Prevention Policy & Correction PolicyContact: vfitzgerald@judge.comThis job and many more are available through The Judge Group.
