In addition, this position allows the opportunity for valuable ‘hands on’ hours to be able to apply and sit for the Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics exam. The assistant performance dietitian will participate and be involved in individual and group/team nutrition counseling and education to enhance the performance of competitive athletes, on-site and during travel. Primary responsibilities include counseling individuals and groups on daily nutrition for performance and health; translating the latest scientific evidence into practical sports nutrition recommendations; tracking and documenting outcomes of nutrition services, serving as a food and nutrition resource for coaches, trainers, and parents; providing sports nutrition education for athletic teams and athletic performance staff; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice. This position will be supervised by a current FT performance RD within the Performance Nutrition Department in athletics.Minimum Education RequiredBachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.Additional Education DesiredMaster's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experienceRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in clinical nutrition, food and nutrition, or related area, granted from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university. Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association.
