On Toast's newest line of business, Retail, we are expanding Toast’s platform to work in retail locations. We work with some of the most innovative concepts around, mixing food and retail. Think wine bars and markets, pizzeria + liquor stores, and boardgame cafés! We are led by two startup founders and thrive on rapid build-measure-learn feedback loops and listening to the customer at all stages of the product process. We are looking for a motivated engineer to help build this product from the ground up.

About this roll (Responsibilities):

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, scope, and rapidly prototype solutions
• Lead the organization and maintenance of large-scale React codebases, ensuring code quality and scalability
• Implement and enhance testing strategies to ensure reliability and stability of the codebase
• Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback to improve code quality, maintain consistency, and enforce best practices
• Help drive architectural decisions and contribute to the overall technical vision for frontend development

Do you have the right ingredients? (Requirements):

• Experience building and shipping production software to customers
• Startup mindset and comfort with ambiguity
• Deep expertise with React and TypeScript, or other modern JavaScript frameworks, with a strong ability to write clean, maintainable code
• Comfortable with testing methodologies and frameworks
• Passionate about making users happy and seeing people use your product in the wild
• Respectful, empathetic, and humble

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.

Pay Range

$150,000—$240,000 USD
