Tool and Die Maker Apprentice

Overview:
Job Summary Statement:

This position will learn the tool & die trade through on the job training and online learning.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn to assemble and disassemble molds.
  • Works with co-workers to learn how to run grinders.
  • Learns to operate mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders and saws.
  • Assists in the adjustment of tools, molds, and low complexity devices to meet product specifications.
  • Assists in the development of improvements in tools, molds, and devices.
  • Regularly participates in OTJ and online TPC training according to schedule provided by manager
  • Works with manager on attending the outside training and education to ensure advancement of skills and improvement in the role.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures safe working practices are followed and all accidents, hazards, near misses, and property damage are reported on time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Must be willing to participate in online TPC Training system
  • English language skills: Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
  • Math skills: Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Understanding of shop mathematics.
  • Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 35 lbs. Able to stoop and bend. Able to walk quickly and climb stairs. Able to work 12-hour shift.
  • Work environment: Manufacturing environment. Warehouse is hot and humid in summer months, cold in winter months.
  • Knows how to apply knowledge of tool and die design and construction.
  • Knows metal properties, and can demonstrate layout, machining, and assembly procedures.
