Tool and Die Maker Apprentice

Overview:

Job Summary Statement:

This position will learn the tool & die trade through on the job training and online learning.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Learn to assemble and disassemble molds.
Works with co-workers to learn how to run grinders.
Learns to operate mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders and saws.
Assists in the adjustment of tools, molds, and low complexity devices to meet product specifications.
Assists in the development of improvements in tools, molds, and devices.
Regularly participates in OTJ and online TPC training according to schedule provided by manager
Works with manager on attending the outside training and education to ensure advancement of skills and improvement in the role.
Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Ensures safe working practices are followed and all accidents, hazards, near misses, and property damage are reported on time.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalency.
Mechanical Aptitude
Must be willing to participate in online TPC Training system
English language skills: Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
Math skills: Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Understanding of shop mathematics.
Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 35 lbs. Able to stoop and bend. Able to walk quickly and climb stairs. Able to work 12-hour shift.
Work environment: Manufacturing environment. Warehouse is hot and humid in summer months, cold in winter months.
Knows how to apply knowledge of tool and die design and construction.
Knows metal properties, and can demonstrate layout, machining, and assembly procedures.
