The Hardware Engineer Intern will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and integrate hardware systems at Trackonomy, with an emphasis on fast iterations and resourceful solutions. The position requires the ability for independent detailed design work and a high-level system understanding of hardware and product interoperability across the team. Our interns work on real-world projects in collaboration with teams of skilled professionals, while solving complex problems along the way. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in prototyping proof of concepts.
  • Support component selection and use in designs as suited for the application.
  • Assist with electrical designs and hardware product features.
  • Assist in documentation for component selection, component supply, and cost, design options, schematics, layout, and production packages with the help of the PCB design engineers.
  • Maintain documentation for approved alternates, product wiring harness, and other electrical and hardware details.
  • Build vs. buy decision-making component scoping and component substitution advice.
  • Bring up and debug.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope which are often varied and routine where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Applies learned techniques and contributes to analysis and investigation to solve problems.
  • Builds productive internal/external working relationships to resolve mutual problems by collaborating on procedures or transactions.
  • Focuses on providing standard professional advice and creating initial reports/analyzes for review by experienced team professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • Must have at least one additional quarter/semester of school remaining following the completion of the 2025 internship program.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to work on-site at the San Jose, CA office (five days per week)
  • Available to begin internship in late May or early June 2025
  • Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Daily repetitive motions with fingers, hands, and arms.
  • Can routinely lift objects between 20-25 pounds.

 

The base pay range for this internship is USD $35-45 per hour. This is a set pay range applicable to the specific San Jose, CA work location, within the San Francisco Bay Area.
