Study.com is seeking an innovative and people-focused Engineering Manager, driving the transformation of our engineering practices through AI-powered tools and automation. In this role, you’ll lead efforts to modernize how we develop software—enhancing speed, quality, and efficiency through the strategic use of AI. 

Equally important, you will manage and grow a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. You’ll also play a key role in product development and process execution, partnering closely with Product and Design to ensure that engineering initiatives align with product priorities and deliver impact with clarity and agility. 

This is a unique opportunity to lead at the intersection of AI innovation, engineering team leadership, and product delivery excellence. 

This role is based in our Mountain View, CA office and is hybrid in office Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

What You’ll Do 

  • Lead initiatives to transform engineering practices and team productivity using AI-assisted tooling and workflow automation.  
  • Champion responsible AI usage in areas like test automation, code generation, code review, and incident management. 
  • Manage and grow a high-performing team of software engineers with a focus on engagement and career development. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on the product roadmap and execution to ensure timely delivery and high quality of engineering output.  
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance team velocity, collaboration, and impact. 
  • Coordinate issue troubleshooting in our 24x7 production environment  

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, or a related technical field.  
  • 6+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with a focus on productivity, platform, or DevOps. 
  • Deep understanding of software development best practices, architecture, and design patterns. 
  • Experience working with cloud technologies, microservices, and modern development frameworks and AI.  
  • Proven ability to lead teams in an agile development environment and deliver complex software projects. 
  • Demonstrated success using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLMs) to improve engineering efficiency. 
  • Track record of aligning engineering initiatives with product goals and measurable outcomes. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and coaching skills with a passion for building strong teams. 
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and strong analytical / problem solving skills. 

Nice to Have 

  • Recent hands-on experience doing web application development - backend: Java, frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc. 
  • Experience building and deploying mobile apps in a modern app development framework. 
  • Exposure to AI frameworks and infrastructure for software development. 
  • Background in agile project or technical program management. 
  • Familiarity with metrics for measuring engineering performance. 
  • Experience managing or working with global remote team members  
  • Enthusiastic about creating strong teams and fostering a positive engineering culture.  

The salary range for this position is $160,000 to $210,000 per year. Pay and is dependent upon factors including skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
