Training Content Writer

Description:

Position: Training Content Writer

  • Location: Training Academy
  • Department: Training
  • Pay: $17-$20 per hour

Primary Purpose:

The Content Writer helps build and maintain A1 Garage Door Service’s reputation as a national garage door service and sales leader through the creation of engaging content for both external and internal audiences. The Content Writer will build upon our A1 Answers educational content program, collaborate with our in-house videographer, training team, and graphic designer, and generate additional ideas for written, digital and multimedia content. This is a position in the Phoenix area with a reasonable remote vs in office time split.

Responsibilities:

  • The editor is responsible for proofreading, fact-checking, and reviewing content to make sure it matches our style and formatting guidelines.
  • This person should also feel comfortable taking on writing and research assignments as needed.
  • You will need excellent English skills, and the ability to edit writing well, but you don't need to be a great "author."
  • It would be ideal if you had some background writing content related to Home Improvement, or at least a general familiarity with Home Improvement (DIY, Homeowner, etc.)
  • Proofread content for grammatical accuracy
  • Edit web content for formatting and style
  • You understand the goal of search engine optimization (SEO).
  • You know the importance of keywords.
  • You understand the impact SEO content has on a website's visibility.
  • You know how to use keywords effectively.
  • You use keywords in a natural way.
  • Fact-check content by researching topics and reviewing provided data
  • Look for and recommend ways to improve content
  • Have an eye for quality assurance across all content
  • Identify and prevent duplicate content and plagiarism
  • Consistently hits deadlines
  • Provide accurate, valid, and complete information by using the right methods/tools.
  • Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies.
  • Additional duties as assigned based on training activities
Requirements:

Position Requirements & Abilities:

  • Ability to produce engaging, entertaining copy for multiple audiences
  • Outside-the-box thinking and idea generation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, public relations, communications, advertising, marketing, media or equivalent preferrable
  • Can write and edit in 100% clear, fluent English
  • Ability to consistently produce and edit high-quality content
  • Can deliver multiple edits articles within a deadline (usually a weekly deadline)
  • Eager to make an impact on our business with an eye toward long-term partnership
  • Please send a link to your portfolio with samples of your work.
  • Provide exceptional internal and external communication
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal, non-verbal and written skills
  • Strong phone contact handling skills and active listening
  • Client orientated and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree or two years of experience
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop and InDesign
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS
  • Experience using WordPress
  • Excellent ability to multi-task through systems and applications, accessing multiple screens and tabs.
  • Knowledge in the service industry is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong knowledge Computer systems, technologies, and software, Service Titan is a plus
  • Multi-tasking through systems and applications, accessing multiple tabs.
  • Be able to type 40 WPM

Training Required:

  • On-site training with the training department to learn the systems and processes within the role.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position; flexible scheduling available
  • Primarily office-based; limited remote flexibility available
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods in front of a computer
  • Must pass drug test and background screening
  • Must be able to work in a remote environment if necessary.
  • Must have high speed internet and a computer available with ethernet capability.
  • The job environment is fast paced and results oriented.
